Wyrm Warriors

Cool. I'm in the process of mapping Forgotten Home, if that's OK. Here's some screenshots.

A World Where You Could Turn Back Time

That's true. Perhaps 1 minute is too small a time. 30 minutes could be more powerful. Except I was thinking, since 1000 people in the world also have your ability, it might change the world in unforeseeable ways. Imagine a country gathering together a group of 100 time travellers that were able to see 100 versions of something happening in the next 30 minutes? It's strange and unthinkable. They could use people as war weapons. Lock them up and coerce them into doing their time bidding for them. I can see a government doing that. Putting someone in a torture chair and forcing them to turn back time when the war isn't going their way. I wonder if that would cause many travellers to go into hiding.

A World Where You Could Turn Back Time

But here's the thing: the only reason why a stun gun would be in place is to punish those who use time travel for evil purposes. In fact, there could even be a social stigma that those who can bend time owe it to the people to save them, and there might be social tension between time benders and normal people. A sizeable portion of time travelers would just want to live lives like normal people, and only use their talents sparingly.

Hmm... unity, what maps have already been mapped? I have a hard time tracking them all. I don't want to create a map that's already been done :S

Are there any maps in particular that you want made? Like, what's next in the story?

A World Where You Could Turn Back Time

Going 1 minute back in time every day. Everyone's physical bodies are where they were 1 minute ago, including the time traveller's.

If these people have existed since a mutation happened in evolution, then the phenomenon should already be recognized by now. War generals would have used it to send a spy behind enemy lines, and rewind time by 1 minute to retrieve them. During that time a whole bunch of time travellers would have gone public, whereas a few would have stayed private. I suppose the unspeakable element is that a person could commit any crime (rape, murder, theft) and then have a way to reverse it so that they know what it feels like and not have to feel the consequences. I suspect that if someone committed a crime they would have a law that you could use stun bullets that stun them for more than 1 minute so they can't just reverse what they did.

So the power of the police for stunning, such as tazers and stuff, to render the power of the mind immobile for at least 60 seconds, would be crucial.

Fuggin' owls, how do they work?

"If silence were loudness, the owl would be the loudest flying bird. God, that's a terrible metaphor."

I love this dude already!

Reap and Sow and Okiku, Star Apprentice complete. Reap and Sow's review is pending, and Marrend got some personal feedback for Okiku as requested.

A World Where You Could Turn Back Time

Imagine a world, much like our own in most respects, except the only difference being that 1 in every 7.23 million human beings have the ability to turn back time 1 minute once every day. That's ~1000 people in the world having this ability at any one time. They know exactly how to turn back time from birth. What do you think the world would be like? There is no way to restrict the persons' time travelling abilities, and no known physical way to identify them either. Ability is not hereditary, it's just randomly propping up throughout mankind, and has no bias to gender, age or location. When time is reversed, it does not affect the brain activity of humans, but instead people are sent back in time knowing full well that they are going into the past. Going 1 minute back in time is not painful, in fact the transition is non-existent.

What do you think a world would be like in this situation? What rules/laws would be present? How would humans try to do damage control in case they try to use these things for evil? If you had this power, what would you do?

Do Broken Toys Go to Heaven?

I don't read many short stories, but I did read a compilation of Philip K Dick. Paycheck is probably my favourite, if not one of my favourite short stories of all time. It has such a diabolical twist ending.

Anyway I've never read Martian Chronicles. You make me want to read it though. But I didn't really mean that this should be an episode in a series, per se. I meant that the ending indicates that this kind of story is just a "slice of life" story, and there are a bunch of different things that happened, and this is just one of them. In other words, "the story goes on".

You inspire me to write, but I don't think I could write as good as you. This also inspires me to create an incredibly short game that illustrates a concept like time travel or mind control or some other cool concept, kind of like Clock of Atonement. Without having to worry too much about character development, you can create something that's more like a philosophical piece or something. I mean, I'm not a very deep person, but I think it'd be cool to try something like that.

PM me if you write more stuff.

Trying to finish this assignment on programming and it's going well. The regular trips to RMN to break the programming up with light relief helps me think this isn't work! :)
