I'm sure all or most of us have that lingering doubt in our mind "why did I abandon so many projects, I have nothing finished now!" But when is it good to abandon a project? In my mind, it is good to abandon a project when it has no hope left. But how can one know?

What Movies Will Look Like in 2014
Hey guys, Cash here. Just thought I'd give you a round-up of what kind of movies you should be looking out for in 2014, if they haven't been released by the time you're reading this already. This guide will contain both movies that you should expect to be released and my general prediction of how they will pan out, and movies that I personally think will go under the radar that you should keep an eye out for. First up is a list of the movies that will probably have the most hype when they come out this year.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (trailer)

The trailer is for this film is on the frontpage of YouTube with ~10mil views so it's safe to say this is very highly anticipated. Acting as the sequel to both The Last Stand and First Class, as well as a follow-up to 2013's The Wolverine, Days of Future Past sends Wolverine into the past in an attempt to change history and prevent a potential doomsday for both mutants and humans. This is the 3rd X-Men film directed by Bryan Singer (he directed 1 and 2), who also directed the classic The Usual Suspects with a fantastic turn by Kevin Spacey. However, his latest efforts (Superman Returns, Valkyrie and Jack the Giant Slayer) have been spotty at best and it's doubtful whether this will be good or bad.

22 Jump Street (red band trailer)
The sequel to 21 Jump Street, apparently this one takes place across the road. Twice-Oscar-nominated Jonah Hill (dear Lord!) and Channing Tatum are going undercover again, this time, at a local college. Based on a 1987 TV series of the same name, and directed by the duo who brought you, surprisingly, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs and The LEGO Movie, the latter of which is a surprisingly brilliant film. Based on their previous and current efforts, this sequel should turn out to be as good as the original, or perhaps even better.

Transformers: Age Of Extinction (teaser)
After Shia LaBeouf's prompt retirement from all public life following several attempts at plagiarizing anything and everything (even apologetic speeches), director Michael Bay finds yet another way to continue the Transformers series by introducing the 4th installment, Age of Extinction. With the new film is the new main protagonist Mark Wahlberg, and it is the first film in the series to feature the Dinobots. Michael Bay will probably continue in his long-held tradition of undeniably impressive 3D special effects trying to mask a thin, indifferent script delivered by an incapable cast for a bewilderingly bloated running time.

Guardians of the Galaxy (trailer)

Marvel Comics' superhero team Guardians of the Galaxy are on the run after stealing a coveted orb in this James-Gunn-helmed film, creator of Super and Slither. I doubt he will be able to deliver on the high expectations of viewers expecting something as great as a "Space Avengers", given his thoroughly underwhelming past works.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (trailer)

Directed by Marc Webb, this sequel to the rebooted Spider-Man franchise after Sam Raimi cancelled Spider-Man 4 will feature Andrew Garfield's return as the titular protagonist, and new entries of Jamie Foxx as Electro, and Paul Giamatti as the Rhino. I predict that this film will be just as good, if not better than the last.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (trailer)

The sequel to the reboot of the original Planet of the Apes series, Director Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield) will likely deliver.

Jupiter Ascending (trailer)
The Wachowskis are releasing the genre-bending Jupiter Ascending in 2014, centering around lowly janitor Jupiter (Mila Kunis) who learns she has a great genetic destiny. I appreciate the risk the Wachowskis are taking in releasing a high sci-fi flick to the masses under such a large budget, what with Channing Tatum having pointy ears and all. But after the commercial flop of the ambitious Cloud Atlas, they may be affording for too much failure. I predict that Jupiter will be a hit with those who "get it", but mostly a widespread critical and commercial failure with those who really don't.

Edge of Tomorrow (trailer)

Known for Jumper, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and The Bourne Identity, Doug Liman creates an action flick possibly inspired by the first-person shooter concept of "respawning". I see this gaining traction commercially due to its special effects and themes, but I can never forgive Liman for what he inflicted on me with Jumper.

My Personal Recommended Films To Look Out For In 2014
Here is the section where I introduce a few films that will probably go under the radar, but nevertheless be appreciated by film critics and those who are paying attention. Note that this is my own personal list of anticipated movies, but I can almost assure you that at least a couple of these films will generate major Oscar buzz.
Foxcatcher (trailer)

This movie is pure Oscar bait. It is also my #1 most anticipated film of the year. Up until now, Steve Carell has not done a serious performance (he was slightly serious in The Way Way Back, but not in a prominent way), but in this film he looks as crazed as ever. This based-on-a-true-story film about Olympic Wrestling Champion Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) and what transpired between his brother (Mark Ruffalo) and coach John DuPont (Carell). Director Bennett Miller has directed 2 Oscar-nominated films Moneyball and Capote, and Foxcatcher looks like it may be his most determined effort yet.

The Double (trailer)
Ex-IT Crowd star Richard Ayoade (Moss on the show) has turned to directing - and he's pretty good at it. Submarine made waves in the festival circuit, earning Ayoade a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer/Director. The Double is a step up in scope, based on a Dostoevsky novel whilst utilizing Jesse Eisenberg's acting abilities to create a sense of paranoia, adding Ayoade's signature dark humour.

Interstellar (trailer)

The Nolan brothers' next release in their reign of glory will feature a team of space travelers who travel through a wormhole. Lead by recent Best-Actor-winner Matthew McConaughey, it is most certainly going to be a major hit, just like the rest of the Nolan franchise.
