New game in the works, need some advice about the software.

Nonono, I?m not asking wich program is better, I know what kind of topic that would start...
Let me better explain myself: I prefer to use XP because it's easiest for me to work on original tilesets in XP.
BUT is there something important for this kind of game that VX can do than XP can't? That's my doubt, because if there isn't, then I'll be using XP.
I hope I made myself clearer now :)
BTW: I?m not a beginner with any rm software, so don't worry about that, I've been using these since rpgmaker 95
thanks for the link Kingarthur, I'm reading it now.

Hey guys, just wanted to tell you that I'll start working on some simple and short RPG in the style of the early Dagon warriors or final fantasy for the NES, but I would like your opinion on which program to use, mainly rmxp and rmvx, I just started doing the tilesets (originals) in VX, but it's a pain in the ass, xp has it much easier, since you can have as many of them and whatever size you want, in vx you HAVE to follow certain guides, like water goes here etc... so I think to use xp, but vx being more recent I guess has some things that work better than xp, although I don't know if for this kind of game it has any use.... what's your opinion? :S

Thanks D-Bones and Dis! Yeah, I have been working a LOT on this game lately, and I'm very close to releasing a second demo (the first one was YEARS ago!) I have to finish this dungeon, and make some last events, then I?llplay the whole thing to make sure there aren't any fatal errors, and then I will probably release the demo :)

I do like the lava map too, and the magma borders don't really bother me, plenty of professional games don't make everything tile 100% perfect either.
More Lost King spam, This time I just begun working on the new area, the Sky palace:

Hehe, I always think of words in other languages to name stuff in my games =P

Summer Screenshot Spectacular!

Ah I see, thanks then! :D
You mean Suikoden 1? I wouldn't really know because I haven't played it, my game is more based on breath of fire 1/2 but I agree that suikoden 1/2 also look relatively similar, with the 3/4 view and all.
And yeah, I was such a fan of bright colors when I started this game, next one I make will be much darker, a bit like final fantasy 6 :)

EDIT: I love the globe GameoverGames, my only complaint is that the places near the "poles" look a bit stretched up...
D-Bones, what does "show everyone up" mean? Am I posting too many screens of my game? :x

Summer Screenshot Spectacular!

Chartley, nice tiles, it's good to see people using something else besides the VX rtp.
Night blade, I still would prefer to see a full screenshot than just a window, but the glyphs seem nice :)
Mm some new screens of new areas in Lost king (I probably should make a topic about the game, and stop posting screens here =P )

Neige, the Snow village:

Glacial peak

Finally you have a ship! you can now travel ALL around the big world in Lost king! (it IS a big worldmap actually)

I hope you guys will like it =)

Thanks Dis!
Natook: Mmm, it's probably because I used just 1 color for the ice, I don't really know how to make an ice texture, but I just got an idea on how to imprtove it!
Arcan: you might be right, I added some ice pillars, but some glowy plants could look good too, thanks for the idea :)
Narcodis: even though I still hate the blockiness of VX's rtp, I think it looks nice.

Thanks dragonheartman, I'm glad you still remember that demo.
The edit looks pretty good, but I think you should fix the tall grass like it was said before, and the water, because the shore color is not the same as the normal water color...
also the INN sign seems to be floating.
I think the door has teh correct size, but I owuld add some windows because the door by it's own looks too empty... good luck :)
Some new screens from a new area in my game. The ice cave.
I have yet to think what else to add to the chipset, everything looks too... blue, but I can't think of anything else to use... I can't have plants because nothing can grow with so much cold and dark, any ideas?
Btw, you slip in the ice, so the big ice area is like a puzzle.

Any ideas on what to add to the chipset ? :D
EDIT: the slight color difference between some of the ground tiles has been fixed.
