The Screenshot Topic Returns

author=arcan
The background (walls floor etc.) is drawn with a more detailed and realistic style while the sprite is cartoony with super visible outlines, exaggerated proportions and limited use of color which naturally makes them contrast. I was also thinking the setting looks very modern while the character appears to be wearing something you would see in dbz. What do you mean the shadows are programmed into the software?

Well I based my character in ff6 chars, as far as I know RPG characters in general have always had exagerated proportions. I don't think the tiles are too realistic, I use a limited color palette for it too, but I will probably change the palette once I figure how to do it without loosing too much quality.
About the shadows, RPGmaker VX autodraws shadows to the right of wall tiles if there is a floor tile in there, and that shadow is done like half a tile with a black color with some level of transparency. That's what I meant.
Thanks for the critics tough, I'll see what I can do. :)

The Screenshot Topic Returns

Looks great Link, I like the general atmosphere.
Arcan, the game is made in VX and most of the straight shadows are programmed into the software, editing them isn't too easy... =P
Why do you think the sprite doesn't fit? any reason in particular?

The Screenshot Topic Returns

Thanks, I'll probably add a border between the wood and the checked floor.

UPRC: I don't see any problem with the flowers, but as some said the carpet looks weird in the upper and lower part, maybe edit it?
Hima: Already posted about your screenshot in another forum so I won't reoeat myself XD
Here's a map (the main character's place) using my interior chipset more or less finished for now, I'll probably be adding new stuff as needed, but the base is ready :)

Currently I'm working on the outside chipset for the main city.

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

I'm working on 2 games currently:
Lost king, I have worked a lot on this game since 2003, it's close to being finished, around 5-6 hours of gameplay so far, probably the whiole game will be around 7-8
and Neo Avalon, a new project in VX, with a futuristic setting.

The Screenshot Topic Returns

That's right, it's VX. I just edited the graphics to have more of an oldschool feel. :)

Nice map dethmetal, kinda remembers me from breath of fire 2 with those different heights
Here are the first 3 screenshots of a new project I'm working in.
So far I have all the characters sprited, and their special skills ready. Now I just need to start drawing and making tilesets.
Note. the background and the enemies are more of a practice, Don't know if there will be such an area in the game yet:

Lufia DS! Remake of Lufia 2!

I kinda like the new "Guy" a LOT more than the old one, and what was the last guy's name? Dekar? something like that? he looks cool too.
I dont' really mind the changes since i never even saw the old art, just the tiny big headed in game chars...

post your picture

When I mentioned everyone being pink it was because all of them seem to have the exact same skin tone, that was all :)
this is a picture a friend took yesterday, it was a fun pool day, I liked the pic.

Screenshot Sesame Street (40th Anniversary Edition)

I like it Rei- the only thing that bothers me is that stone pillar in the middle seems rounder in the top but square on the bottom...
I like the shiny flowers :3
Rated, I guess it's ok, I would like to see some in game screens though...
