Villages, Towns, and Cities.

I came up with a strange idea not too long ago where the game is set in a town where everyone (the town NPCS) are turned into stone. The town is crawling with monsters since the guards are also turned into stone. You basically had to collect items called Un-Petrification Water, for each Water you had, you could take away the stone effect from one NPC. You can find the Water in a cave (a dungeon) to the north or in hidden spots of the town.

The interesting part about this design, is that if you revive say... the Inn keeper, you can rest in the inn. If you revive a guard, there will be less monsters running around, if you revive a shopkeeper, he'll open shop. etc. As you revive each NPC more and more, the town becomes brighter and the music changes overtime from a dreary atmospheric place, to an upbeat happy populated area.

I'm not sure if this was EVER done before, but this is something I came up with. I could never really get into making this idea into a project, because I couldn't make a cool story behind this idea to keep me interested. I probably could put this into full swing if I really tried, but I already have a project that needs to be completed before anything else. If anyone wants to steal this idea, feel free.

Of course this is over the top when it comes to making towns interesting. I'd just like to see towns that aren't set in really common places. I liked Chrono Cross for being started in a really small beach town that was really vibrant. I also remember an RPG Maker game where the home town was a BOAT. A town in the middle of a field or a forest is just boring, changing the setting can make it 10 times more interesting.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Replaying though Planescape Torment. It's a really awesome game. The beginning of it used to scare me as a kid but I remember just going around and snapping all the dustmen's necks before they would call the guards. Now I'm just bashing through everything I meet. Which is ironic because I'm going for a more Wise and Charismatic character rather than my previous Strength induced play through.

There's a lot of little things in this game that I didn't noticed before that now surprises me. For instance I didn't know that you could actually open up the zombies and mess around with them with the scalpel. There was one part where you accidentally destroyed a zombie and got his left arm detached... AND YOU COULD USE IT AS A WEAPON.

Story wise this is a VERY weird and bizzare game. I thought Baldur's Gate was an imaginative game. But then when I saw that Planescape had you playing as some immortal caveman, a floating skull, a chick with a rat tail thing, a succubus and other crazy characters. It quickly changed my perspective on RPGs.

Anybody Playing Street Fighter 4?

Researching a game and treating it like a sport is fun for the people that do it. You are not influenced by tier lists when you play against someone randomly or a friend of yours, so why bitch out about it?

When you take a game seriously, you're obviously going to want to win. And if you want to win, using every bit of data by people who have over studied the game to point of being able to tell which characters suck and which don't on a basic level is part of knowing how to win. Knowing is half the battle.

Has anyone played my game yet? If so, I'd like some feedback :P!
It's kind of worrying when your game gets 8 or more downloads and there is no feedback!
I am yet to play any of the other Release Somethings, as I haven't had the time thus far :(.

Why isn't this on the main site? I would of noticed it a lot easier. Anyway downloading.
