Heartache 101 ~Sour into Sweet~
author=Toby
I like dating sims :D Question, does the game include H-scenes? I like that in sim dates as I find it lame when you only get to kiss.
Then we are quite lame for focusing on story and the personalities of the girls instead. Sorry to dissapoint. Next time we make a game, we'll make sure to ingore age of consent and focus entirely on screwing so people like you don't have to registrate just to ask if it worths the ten minutes it takes to download. Anything else?:/

Don't know if this is a bug or if it is part of the game design. Several times I have had encounters with Riho where I am given the option to ask for her sign when I already have it. She is the only character that it has happened to me with. Seems like you are supposed to get the phone # option after you have a girl's sign.
I'm new to this game so I haven't played it the numerous times you guys have, but I thought I would just throw it in here.
Are you sure you're just playing around? It looks like you're deliberately looking for bugs and rush here to tell us about it to show off. I'm asking because if you aren't... consider yourself hired.
Well, sorta, it's not like we pay or anything, but we work for free, too(Mutual suffering, ho!), and could use a bugtester this perceptive and thorough. If you are correct, these errors have been around since first release and neither of us noticed before, obviously we suck compared to you. What do you think? Wanna?^^
Or if you're playing around, then congratualtions! I'm gravely afraid of you. Please proceed to give a warning and a ten second advantage before you unleash your powers upon us.

author=flowerthiefWeeeeellllll... there is this little feeling nagging me in the back of my head about how we're limitied to two relations per character. Originally, they looked like this:
I'm back in the saddle btw. If anyone has issues to report that need to be addressed or that I may have forgotten, now would be a good time!
So far I've been taking care of the bugs Marrend reported over the past half-year, which are not as many as I had thought. The next release won't even be worth downloading to you guys unless there's a new feature or something.... :)

Fairly tame.
And now they look like this:

Holy- What the- I give up!
LordNight's and Triad's characters excluded, of course.(Frankly, I just don't know enough about them.) Not going to get any more decipherable, either. I have quite a list on upcoming chars.
It also worths mentioning that Masako has info on everyone ever to set foot on the planet, Ryoko can dig up dirt in a similar fashion, Shihoko and Miki probably know every popular girl by name, Kyouki works in the convenience store part time... I could go on and on. Maybe we could base relations directly on ID instead of CUSTOM lines, and expand on the effects of dating girls who know each other?

So I downloaded this game a few days back and it's honestly amazing. Are you still working on coming out with more stuff for this game or working on another game? Because I would absolutely love more of this.
I'm glad you like it!^^ And yes, there's still more content in development, as well as a few routes available, both in the form of DLC, and our lead developer(Flowerthief) is working on a new game(we suspect, anyway). We're going through a huge rehaul of our content right now, however - Junko's and 21's route will change significantly, and the Uchioniko is being expanded somewhat. It might worth to wait a few weeks/months and look back then.

And! I can't help with char development unless you give me more info, but we have general rules on pacing.
The two factors of pacing in Heartache are relation and time. As the relationship with the player progresses, new events open up for the audience, thus our reason for including it in the pacing process is clear.
Events tied to relation level above the starting relation are divided among the available events equally, with two exceptions. First, there should be a strong emphasis on the stories after the girl falls in love. Second, every story has a smaller focus on one part beforehand - the emotional peak, if you will, where the audience senses achievement and bonds with the girl. Without the latter, the relationship seems rushed, fake or strained, the users will not feel attached to their adversary and soon will lose the drive to go on, never finishing the game.
For example, in Akari's route, the peak is reached when the relationship is FRIENDLY - getting her to smile at you and open up gives the emotion. In Riho's, it's reached at NEUTRAL, when she stops acting like an asshole and shows she's not that bad once you get to know her. In Mayu's, it's at LIKE, when she finally displays care for others outside her circle of friends.
Now, onto time. Whenever you meet a character limits the number of stories that can be played through with sanitary effort, obviously. The longer the story is within the school, the sooner should the character arrive. Other time related events have no limit; they can appear whenever it feels appropriate, so long their number and the difficulty of checks is within reason.
The combination of various events can lead to secondary ones. When your relation with one or more characters changes the relation between the characters, it's appropriate to include interludes. Interludes in the built-in game only happen when you pursue two characters in relation with each other simultaneously, but there's no reason you shouldn't try something else.
Various combination of decisions and time-related events can lead to sideroutes. These are not important to the main story, but can include additional flavor text and extra character development. Anything you don't want the player know, but can't hurt to have him know should go there.
Annd that's it. If you want me to help with the char development itself, I'd have to know about what kind of characters are we talking about, otherwise I can only bring up random examples that could mess up everything.

Custom content (archived discussion)
author=mjshiWhy hello, demanding barbarian who has never heard of greeting! Lucky you caught me in a terrible, terrible mood with your incredible sense of entitlement, normally I would never let myself talk people down like this!
A little help?
1. This is an archived thread. What are you doing here? Use the technical content creation thread for technical problems! Shoo!>:(
2. The error occurs because you didn't include a binary path to the profile in the story file, so while the game can load the generic events from the profile, when you want to include her(or anyone else, for that matter) in a story it has no idea where to look. Just paste the used profiles' name onto the first line. I also recommend avoidance of spaces in file names.
3. We are not sending you private messages or e-mails to report on your bugs. We provide community support, not our personal information or consensual slave labor. Any error you may encounter can be discussed here both for convenience and the sake of the quality of our service.
author=mjshiLaziness, in general. Like how you waltzed in without checking where to post, and expected us to do everything when we don't even know you. You realize that just by asking, you announced you couldn't be bothered to open a functional story file to check? So you could, you know, see the first flippin' line? That takes one and a half seconds, bud. Good first impression, this is not. And don't even get me started on that video. Next time, just post the text, okay? -.-
What am I doing wrong?
author=mjshiWe know. I filed a report on that a week ago. Flowerthief is in no position to take care of it these days however, and the rest of us have no or limited access and control over the site.
Oh, btw your site is down.

Am I the only person who sees a problem with this? Especially when the first group of AFFECTION lines is actually, you know, negative?
He just said he wouldn't use it, Sir Missalot. That means you don't have to understand why there aren't any problems with it, which means I don't have to explain it to you. That's good. 'kay?

You weren't taught? Very well! I didn't spend my time in English classes to make no use of it later! Let's fix this last paragraph!
Overseer powers, activate!
'They', 'them' and 'their' is used in singular third person when gender is unknown, as well as in plural third(of which you are aware).
'Too' means an addition(among other things). 'Either' means a choice over one or another. Either is used an intensive in this negative sentence to express the absence of difference.
In a conditional sentence, all verbs after 'if' and before 'would' are in past tense. All verbs after auxiliaries that are in past tense(such as 'would', the past form of 'will', or 'did', the past from of 'do') remain unchanged regardless of where what you refer to takes place in time.
Also, English uses a strict word order to differentiate between object and subject(incredibly silly language). Make sure you don't confuse those poor native speakers.
You're welcome!

Well, that's not very surprising for metooeither,. I'm brazilian and 85% of myeEnglish I learned from games, the other 15% I learned from Google,. For a visual novel, that's a bit inaccurate. xD
PS. If someonesayssaid that here in Brazil we learnoin school how to speakeEnglish, don't trust him.
