And you are...? (THE INTRODUCTION THREAD)

Alright, so the community is fleshing out a bit. It's time we introduced ourselves. No we're not role playing here, I want the REAL you. Yea, that guy sitting in front of the computer. What are you like? What's the stuff you do? This ain't your everyday MYSpace quiz, so make it interesting.

I'll start.

My names Tyler I am 20 and I am currently living in Houston, Texas. I go to college in Denton, Texas (30 miles north of Dallas) attending the University of North Texas. I spent my first year as a musicial composition major, but am changing into a jazz performance/composition major next semester. My major hobby is music. I play the trumpet and have for many years. I've played in orchestras, marching bands, pep bands, big bands, small jazz groups, rock groups, and cover bands. I've also written in various styles including jazz, pop, rock, funk, classical, and game styles. I'd like to consider myself a versatile musician and the goal is to teach, write, and play (basically everything I can) to survive in the "real world."

When it comes to videogames I prefer RPGs and party type multiplayer games such as Smash Bros, Mario Kart, or Goldeneye (Sorry, No Halo). My favorite RPG is Final Fantasy 7. Yes I am a fanboy. But no my screenname was never SephirothDarkCloud167.

I likes to be active when a bunch of friends are together. Common activities include softball and basketball. I like to jam with all types of musicians and instruments. Jam Sessions are fun, yo.

I think I am a pretty cool guy. I am totally out of the loop of pop culture. I like good music, I am decently interesting, and not too concerned with outer appearance (But that doesn't matter cause I'm HAWT). I would like to say I am social and hang with interesting and normal people and my internet or gaming habits were never too extreme to get in the way. No reason you can't have both, eh? I wouldn't consider myself a "hardcore" gamer, but I do enjoy playing on occasion.

Now how about you guys?

Wisdom Teeth

Next Monday I get the dreaded surgery I've been needing for a while, getting my wisdom teeth pulled. What the most dispointing aspect of the surgery is my inability to play my trumpet for two weeks. You may not realize the inpact of this, but this will have major effects on my progress (probably set me back a bit after the break). Also, I won't be able to play my annual weekend gigs which gets me down a bit. But besides my whining, has anyone undergone this surgery? My mom says you get a nice "high" and then wake up with your mouth feeling weird. Has anyone have any experiences with the surgery?

Jazz Compositions, Check 'em out

I would like to say I can write a wide assortment of music styles (Check out Last Legend or Channel Changer for some examples), but I would say Jazz is where my true love for music lies. Here are some of my jazz arrangements. They are all for the "BIG BAND" ensemble which includes 5 trumpets, 5 trombones, 5 saxophones, drums, piano, bass, and guitar. Enjoy.

A sneaky and dark hip hop groove that I wrote in 2006 for my university jazz band.

A funky tune I composed for my university jazz band in 2007.

Pokemon Theme Song: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=D16FF4406F326F52

The theme song to the hit TV Show. I composed this as a joke for my highschool group, but they liked it so much we recorded it.

Reviewing

While, I see where you're coming from with all submissions member based, I think having staff reviews helps get games that might not get as much attention from normal folks to get some good feedback. You got lots of smart people here like Brickroad, Forever, Wip and such... it'd be nice to get some good reviews and announcments on these reviews as a way to bring attention to the games that are gonna get dusty because they are lost in the sea of games.

Just an idea.

RPGS... you've beaten

Nothing too fancy, just list all the RPGS you've played 'till the end. Ya know, those games you actually have beaten. And for extra you can add in how many times you've beaten it, games you played far into but didn't beat, and any additional comments on the game experience.

Games I Have Beaten:

Final Fantasy 4 (2 times)
Final Fantasy 5 (1 time) <-- Plan on beating this again sometime.
Final Fantasy 6 (2 times)
Final Fantasy 7 (4-6 times)
Final Fantasy 8 (1 time) <-- I'm on disc 3 currently. Lost motivation.
Final Fantasy 9 (2 times)
Final Fantasy Tactics (1 time)
Final Mystic Quest (atleast 2 times)
Chrono Trigger (2 times) <-- About to be three.
Chrono Cross (1 time) <-- About to be two
Super Mario RPG (1 time)
Pokemon Blue (2 times...at least)
Pokemon Yellow (1 time)
Pokemon Silver (1 time)

Game I Haven't Beaten:

Xenogears - I've tried many times, but I always lose interest and quit midway. One time I got to this long tower dungeon and the platformer elements frustrated me to no end so I quit.

Earthbound - I'm at the 7th sanctuary. Lost motivation, but I'd like to finish at some time.

Final Fantasy 12 - I'm stuck at this one part. I didn't have a PS2 for a whole semester of college as well, so this prevented me from playing.

Final Fantasy - I think I beat the first boss. But I got bored at quit.

Secret of Mana - Started to play it once but got bored.

Now go!

This is a project Fighter and I have been working on since Summer of 06. It's an all RTP/classic first rpg game. It was meant to be like the first rpg game you've ever made, just with a little more experience and know how. The game was kept all RTP to have a bright and consistent feel, to make it easy to get progress done, and to have as said before that first game feel.

Story:
A boy named Tyler decides to search for a long sought out family treasure. Along the way he encounters many friends and foes, braving pirates, monsters, ghouls, evil kings, and around 15 + dungeons/towns. The game features around 4-6 hours of gameplay. Some minigames/sidequests and tons of places to see! I estimate around 7-10 towns, 5-8 dungeons, and more! This game really has the simple classic rpg feel and is not trying to change the world. Rather do what Fighter and I believe RPG Maker is for. Make a fun simple game that actually has gameplay in it.

I bet all of you could appreciate a game like this. Give me some feedback if ya know what's good for ya! Enjoy.

Also, ignore the save files in game. You can delete/overwrite them if you wish.
