I think your idea is doable. You just have to be careful because of the way the DATING stuff works. Do you really want a good-bye kiss between your male char and the player? And do you really want to have your mal char reach LOVESICK affection level with player?

You should read, understand and test everything that's in the Helpfile supplied with the game about affection and DATING.

There are multiple ways to prevent stuff like goodnight kisses: disable ENCOUNTERS, lock him at FRIENDLY, overwrite all PHONE stories with him or overwrite all DATING-Stories for him. (You can ask your pal out on a non-romantical date, right?) At least you should lock him at LIKE or lower. Or else player might get a generic ending with him (if he fails each and any route.)

Sidenote: have a look at my WingGirl pack (the first part, not pathways), if you want.
You can only get one of the three main girls but you can - and have to - interact with all three of them.

For the sibling: easiest way would be ot delay her INTRODUCE story until player is far enough down the road with her brother. Alternatively you can disable her ENCOUNTERS or LOCK her at NEUTRAL. Or a combination of these, whatever fits your plot best.

@Marrend: your "crazy" idea is doable at least to some degree, but there would be only one name for them both and you'd need to decide who's picture should be shown in the phone book. And what picture's the one to be seen in the heart screen after the ENDING. It would be much easier and cleaner to use two char's for that. Plus the DISLIKE, UNFRIENDLY, LOVE and LOVESICK tachie are used by the game itself (for reactions to good or bad advice, for the kissing scene etc.)

PS: someone sometime back asked for a male romanceable character. The game would completely allow this, even so there are some events which seem to indicate he's not into boys. But that wasn't your intention anyways.

PPS: As for male sidechars there's a bit more of them. In the build-ins there's Takuya, at least two other named classmates, one teacher, Masashi, and Keika's boyfriend. Plus a few NPC in town appear to be male. And not to forget the deliquents on Sunday ;) Oops almost forgot about Riho's and Tsubasa's routes. There's plenty of male NPCs there (Riho's baseball team, Tsubasa dad, some police officers ...). And an uncle and two brothers on Hinami's route ...
None of them has more then a few lines of text, tho.

I tried a few weeks ago to complete as many routes of WingGirl, Pathways and Nadeshiko in one playthrough as possible ... you're almost certain to luck out on a few of them and thus need much longer then 101 days.

*EDIT:* completing more then ... say ... three routes of the original content in one run without activating 151 mode, easy mode or cheating is challanging too.

Not to mention finding all those cute hidden bonus scenes where you run into two or more girls while exploring the town.

Did you play some of the custom content routes? There's enough of them for dozens of playthroughs ...

On 2nd thought I do have a few ideas why the game didn't work when you copied the files to a thumb drive ...

(Disclaimer: I don't have a MAC and never had one.)

First: a mac has different notions of how to end the lines in a textfile. Maybe by copying the files were somehow converted from "PC style line endings" to "MAC style line endings"?

Second: as far as I know Mac OS manages quite a few additional attributes for each file it deals with. Normally those are hidden from unaware programs like wine. But to my knowledge Mac OS emulates those attributes by writing additional files to non Mac OS formatted drives (like most USB sticks). That files could be confusing wine ..

And a third possibility: ancient DOS formatted drives where limited to 8 letters for the filename + an extension like .TXT. If you used something like that, the names of all the files would be mangled and thus game.exe might be unable to find stuff.

But that's just guessing ...

Thank you both for the quick responses to my first question. I did see the responses soon after you posted them, and I do not intend to edit the game in such a fashion.

There was one other thing I noticed about the game - it doesn't open up if the folder is inside a flash drive. The error message states that the story files aren't in .txt format. I presume it must be an error in reading the files, since they ARE in a .txt format.

That said, it might be something on my part as I'm using a Mac and Wine to open up the game.

Hmm. I'm using wine, too. Never had this specific problem, tho.

OK. That leaves me enough time to finish Nadeshiko ;)

@Marrend: are you planing to update the OCC in Dezember?

Yeah, I agree with Marrend. Actually, I think the brightness on everything on that tachie could be toned down a couple dozen points. Orange might be my favorite color, but that hair might just give me a headache if I stare at it too long ;-) . If you're going for "copper", it needs a bit more brown in it anyway.
What I was really going for was that type of pale freckled ginger who get's a sunburn every time ... I'll retry ;)

EDIT: Hope that's better?

NB: you might have to reload the page, especially if you still see her old tachie.

The freckles are probably fine? I personally think you could tone down the skin color. It's overwhelmingly bright!

Yeah you're probably right. She's supposed to have rather pale skin to go with her freckles and her copper hair ... but I think I overdid it ...

That's what you get for tuning down the backlight too much while designing tachie ;)

I'm playing around with freckles a bit ... what you think of the result?
(Her mom's supposed to be Irish ... that is if I ever write her story.)

This is probably not the final version ... any hint about what could be improved - especially freckle-wise is appreciated.
