Old/Lost RpgMaker Games - SegNin's Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic

Hello, it's because you probably downloaded it from a wrong wayback file (I had the problem too).
I guess I solved the problem by downloading it from an earlier wayback link. The clean link is 252 792 MO. Often, it happens with later saves from the wayback that a part of the file isn't saved, corrupting the download.

RMN v4.3 Bugs

Hello, you have a small bug in this page. It's showing all month for the 12th day instead of today => yesterday, etc.

For Paradise Blue, you have an older file here : https://rpgmaker.net/content/games/251/downloads/ (2007). I'm unsure it's the midi version, but seeing how there is only one non midi song in the actual download...

Maybe it depends of the game?
For example, Final Fantasy High is said to have been removed by Mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/file/may3211tl9ej21n/Final_Fantasy_High_v2.0_(RM2k3)_(Yumblie).zip

Being in charge of your stats before the game even begins

Hello. I'm unsure it will help you, but here we go.

For the stat points, I would say it shall depends of what you want on your game and the feeling of reward the player will have: are there several ways to beat some parts of the game, depending of different behaviors/stats?
If yes, then you will want the player to work +/- heavily on specific stats/behavior to get him pass the trial. If not, it's to you as a developer to decide if you want to "punish" the player by disabling one or several ways. The more your game is expected to be difficult, the more rewarding the player will feel about passing the trial.
If no (for linear games), I guess there would always be some possible grind by level up.

As for the case the player doesn't know exactly if he did a good choice or not, I guess western game types are made to make you behavior a certain way, in which the player should stick (example : good/bad reputation, or shaping offensive/support/tank characters). I've not played too much of those games, but when I can, I tend to get some offense (attack or magic and speed), and a basic cure when possible. It often helps when begining.

Do you feel like you're buying advantages or identifying hard with the character?

Following a certain path sure helps to immerge in the game, as you feel as your actions have consequences (the main protagonist just feels like an empty shell in this case however). You have to build toward your own decisions, and sometimes adjust when time comes. It makes me think that to avoid cheaty stats, somes games make the cost in an already boosted stat/trait more and more costy, so that the player spends his points in other areas. It can be useful if you want to design the game not to be too much about grind, or let a hint to the player that focusing on one stat/trait might not be the best idea.
Dunno if I answered to what you asked, but good luck.

Maybe you have the corrupted download. I've it under the version 2.0, it's missing essential data (lmt and ldb).
I found another link (maybe hedge's repository?), but it's one day earlier (07/21/2005 instead of 07/22/2005): https://www.grosfichiers.com/ZT9x4dZQvdU (lasts 15 days).
Maybe you could try to transfer the maps from the 2.0 (your broken file) to the game I provided? Maybe it's only bug corrections. You can extract the content of your corrupted file with 7-zip (not what was lost, but the rest).

Convert/Extract .xyz files to picture files (.png, .jpeg, etc.)

Hello,

You just have to drag and drop the file(s) you want to convert and click on "Start Conversion". You have options for filesize for both png and xyz.

You can find it here.
I remember of a web (flash ?) game that emulated the first game.

Also, scitydreamer published Vaporwave Simulator.

Translation

Some details about LordBlueRouge post :
Dreamaker was made by KingKadelfek in 2008-2009 and the lastest version (3.8) works for any version of RM2000/2003 (even newer ones), but not XP. It does translate message boxes in events (so it only extract them from .lmu files), so you would have to open the game editor for database and common events. It's solid, though it might have some flaws.

vgperson also released a translation tool you can find here. It's more recent (she is talking about Dreamaker too) and has some more options (I think the one that can replace accented letters or other non ASCII caracters in filenames is a must have). Plus, it doesn't create other files (Dreamaker was creating other files in order to deploy)

For XP, you have scripts, and another version of Dreamaker too (5.3), which allows translation without opening editor like its predecessor. It works for common events, but not for terms in scripts (several extraction scripts don't have this option in XP, because it makes the engine apparently too slow). Note that you will need to do some manipulations to make it work in Windows 10 (in french, sorry).
--------
For other RM (I'm not so well versed in those ones):
If you're using scripts for XP-VX-Ace, you'll most of the time want :
- a script to extract in txt/csv/other file.
- a script to get the text back in your game.
Several scripts already exist to do that. What you want are two that are compatible, or easy to get along.
You also have other tools like RPGMaker Trans by Habisain , which is supposedly working for RM2000 to VX Ace games.

For MV, there are several engines, the most known being Translator++ (an update just poped up, by the way). You also have this online solution : http://gamestailer94.de/translator/. I didn't get the the first one to work and don't know about the second though.
There are also plugins, as there were scripts in other engines.

For RM95, I didn't look for a tool, but it would probably have the form of dreamaker or vgperson utility, since the data also work in separate files. You may want to try the polish website though, DragonKamillo being the more versed.
