I'm a very big fan of music of japanese role playing games for it has influenced me throughout my life since my early childhood. The day I saw Nobuo on the stage in front of me I decided I too will become a composer one day. It has been 9 years since that day.

You can't find my works anywhere right now, but that will change very soon this year as I will be contributing several original tracks for RMN Music Pack 2.

Cryamore

Some cool people are developing a pretty cool looking game with cool music:

There's still 14 hours left to back it, so if you're fast you may be able to still grab some cool pledgers' rewards:

Though it looks like the game will get a main console support in any case.

Chivarly: Medieval Warfare

http://www.chivalrythegame.com/

Alright, this is the funniest game I've played this year. It's medieval "fps" as in kill other people online on battlegrounds. The game has really smooth mechanics and is a a real blast to play. Basically you can choose between 4 medieval classes that have differing stats and arsenals and half a dozen game modes, like team death match, king of the hill, objective, last man standing, etc.

You use mouse for most of the controls, like horizontal swing, vertical swing, parry and pierce - the combat is more about right timing and accuracy, than anything else. The game can be quite brutal too, though that's part of what makes it so much fun - to chop your enemies' heads and limbs off and see them roll down the hill. (or if your own head is chopped off then your camera will just roll down the hill.)

Here's some bits I recorded while playing it myself:

Here's the video from their site

Best part is you can get in Steam just for 22€ or so~

Plugging Topic

Too lazy to search through member profiles for everyone's tumblr, youtube, twitter, soundcloud and etc? Me too.

So I suggest we post it all here for easy access!

Use something like this:

Youtube:
Twitter:
Tumblr:
Soundcloud:
Deviantart:
etc.

If you feel like writing a blurb of what your blogs or channels are about, feel free to do that also.

Here's mine for example.

Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/happy800MPH
Twitter: https://twitter.com/800MPH
Tumblr: http://800mph.tumblr.com/
Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/800mph
Deviantart: http://weretiger00.deviantart.com/
Newgrounds: http://800mph.newgrounds.com/

I use all my channels to show original music I have created, except for my deviantart profile, which I use to favorite tons of high quality fantasy illustrations

Olympic Avatars

I made some avatars inspired by photos from the olympics.

Feel free to use them!

RMN Vocalise

I spent a moment thinking how to explain why we need to do this... until I realized that explaining isn't necessary at all.

LET'S ALL TROLOLO!

What you need to do:

1. Dig up your microphone.

2. Open up Vocalise:

3. Open up an audio recording program, PUSH RECORD AND SING ALONG! (You can sing us whole song or a segment of it!)

4. Submit the clip in this topic or PM it to me, but make sure it contains only your voice! make sure the music isn't there. (Use headphones to achieve this, or something.)

What I will do:

I will mix the clips with a background track of the song and we'll have an RMN trololo!

Everyone should participate! :D I shall post my own entry soon.

RPG settings

There's so many possibilities for interesting RPG settings, yet we often see very similar medieval fantasy settings in RPGs that are a bit different just by different lores and historical settings. (In Rpg maker the main cause might be the available resources.)

So, I was wondering what sort of RPG settings do you find the most interesting? You can go as far as describe any sort of setting you can imagine, but you can refer to the popular fantasy settings as well (ie. steampunk, scifi, etc.)

For myself: settings that I have liked and are first to come to my mind are the tropical settings in games like Breath of Fire IV (though it was a lot of sand in general?) and Final Fantasy X, for example. Sunny beaches, water, etc. Culture that has some influences of eastern cultures.

I don't really have much in-depth thoughts to start this topic off with, but we'll see where it goes. I'm just mostly curious about what sort of settings people favor.

Happy music

Edit: Commissions are now closed! Check back in January / February 2013. Though you can still message me but I can't begin working on your song until February or so.

You can now request a custom theme from me for $7! The money will be spent on RMN Music Pack's Voters' Choice Award!

This is how it works:

There is 5 open slots. Each slot is worth $7. To reserve a slot you need to PM me your request and I will reserve you the first available slot. I will begin composing the requested themes in January and you don't need to pay me until your theme is complete and you're happy with it. After your theme is complete and I have received your payment you have full copyrights to the theme in question.

How will these payments be added to the prize money if they are made after the event is over?

Basically I'm just adding extra $35 to the prize money of RMN Music Pack from my own pocket, but collecting the funds afterwards by composing people custom requests! Everyone benefits!

If you choose to donate more than one song's worth of money, you get to reserve more slots. But I will still only have 5 slots available in total, so be quick!

(Your song will be loopable (unless specified otherwise) and most likely 1:20-2:30 in duration, depending whatever works best for the track in question. If you need more details, please feel free to send me a PM!)

Open slots left: 0

Moar Achievements

I think achievements are fun. I also think there could be more of them. Why? Because they're fun to collect, though of course it shouldn't be too easy. So far we have achievements that are gained mostly from events, though there are some extra achievements as well.

What if there was more achievements for us to collect? Yay or Nay? All of them wouldn't need to be huge maker score boosts, but little rewards for doing cool things, though there could be variety in the achievements, and some of them could be harder to get.

I'd like to start some discussion on this matter. :D

If people were to generally agree there could be more achievements, please do also suggest ideas for achievements if you have any!

Some ideas for what to gain achievements from:

Submit 10/25/50/100 reviews.
Submit 10/25/50/100 articles.
Submit 10/25/50/100 scripts.
Submit 10/25/50/100 tutorials.

The achievement of these would always upgrade when you'd get to the next level. Some of these could be combined as well maybe.

Complete 1 / 5 / 10 games.
Have the highest buzz score of entire year.
Be featured in spotlight.
Have a gem game.
Have a classic game.
Be a winner in one or more Misao categories.
Be a tester in 3/5/10 complete games.
Do a "Let's Play" or "Let's try" of 10 or more games.

All of these would need some cool names and badges to go with them as well, but I'm sure there are people here willing to help with those.

Anyway, thoughts? Moar ideas? It would be cool to have more achievements to collect, because it's a site feature anyway, so why not to take more advantage of it. It encourages activity, after all.
