What are you thinking about right now?
Seems more often than not a Final Fantasy fangame is an average rpgmaker game with the title screen logo of Final Fantasy slapped on top of it (throw in chocobo sprite for good measure). You probably want to seriously consider the reasons you want to make a fangame before you start this. I am getting the impression that this isn't thought out and it's your reaction to seeing the discussion on Final Fantasy: Essence. Whatever the case, do think about why this game will be a final fantasy fangame as opposed to any other rpgmaker game you could make.

Nothing Is Perfect
Your Person1 would say: This review needs to be pulled, WHERE ARE THE MODS?!
My Person2 would say: The comments section is a pile of shit! Take them out of RMN4
My version of a Person2 is who I directed my comment at. One who truly thinks the answer is to censor conversation rather than believe the problem is in the attitude of the posts. Nah, it was not directed towards you Holbert.
I have given a game with flaws a 5, and I am proud of it. I would love to see more 5 star ratings given judiciously. It's silly to think giving a 5 should mean 5/5 people like it. That thinking would disallow anything to be considered great because everyone must agree. If 2/5 people on earth do not like the automobile and prefer we all bike, walk, or ride horses, should we give cars 3/5 stars on the scale of invention? (Made up stat, but one that would not surprise me) Its a challenge to get 3/5 people to share an opinion on anything. Democracies know this.
Anyway, why should your review reflect how you think everyone else might see it? Who exactly are you speaking for, and do you assume to know them? Evaluation is a personal thing, so speak for yourself.

It's all an opinion.
And we talk about opinions here, so it's all good. In that regard, the forums and comments are working. There's no reason it needs to stop. I am just surprised how many opinions on little things people tend to get MAD about.
Reviewer: 5 stars, mate. great job on this game!
Person 1 writes: Really, are you kidding me?! This game is so broken, no way it deserves that.
Person 2 writes: ^$^%$^$ he has the right to review however he wants.
Person 1 thinks: I never said he couldn't. it is YOU who says I can't say what I am thinking.
Really, what matters most is how these things are said. Respect.
Nothing Is Perfect
If a reviewer would want me to respect his/her right to score a game however they like, the reviewer and other commentors should also respect my right to tell them I disagree with it. Those two things should be able to happen simultaneously without it being considered a nasty argument.
If Roger Ebert wanted to call The Spirits Within the best movie he has watched in his life, no problem. But don't tell me I don't have a right to say just how silly that is to me and how I feel that movie should not get such praise.

AFTERMATH VX - Version 0.4 Review

I just went back and read drakiyth's posts again. Someone's been taking full advantage of the edit function.
I have no problem with that here. Drakyth clearly regrets overreacting and would like to strike those comments off his name. He is not trying to hide the fact that he made the posts and just wants to restart communication with a better tone. There's not much reason those sorts of posts should remain (if he does not want them) unless you are trying to save information for some future witch hunt.

The fact is, no one has a right to tell anyone else that a game shouldn't be rated a certain thing, or even felt it is perfect or not, if the other person thinks that it should be.
We sure do have a right. It's disagreeing with the review, valid discussion. At the same time, the ones writing the reviews ALSO have the right to review how they want. IMO neither the reviewers or commentors have invalid opinions.

Either rate or don't, and be cool and nice that others have their own opinions on the games at-hand.
And also this. Going both ways.
