I'm so stoked for this!
like Drakonais said, we have a uber badass in our midst.
And I couldn't be more happier that I'm here seeing the engine progress like it is.
I never planned on switching to VXP, and I'm definitely not now!

I also like the crimson color of the engine window skin and whatnot, pretty.

Interesting Items in RPGs
In my game, all "potions" and the like are in the form of real life food, like beef jerky or potato chips, etc.
You also have items like molotovs and rusty knifes, which as expected are single use items that cause damage, whether it be single target or AOE.
And really, in a zombie game, or just a game that focuses on real life, potions and stuff just wouldn't make sense.
So I think people should incorporate items that have to do with their world, be it fantasy or not.
And just because it is fantasy or uses magic doesn't mean it has to be your bog standard potion!
Lol, this would piss me off, but I like it. xD

I even have one called Reaper's Robe that kills the wearer just as you equip it. (Impractical but different)

Giving Feedback: Pass or Fail
To those negative nellys I just have to say, that this type of feedback was really helpful to me, even for it being so short.
It's REALLY nice to see your game as someone else is playing and vocalizing every thought.
I actually think this setup is better, because when someone does a Let's Try/Play and they dislike it from the beginning they are bound to quit trying, or just resent playing through the rest.
Ya'll need to realize this is just a different way of going about it.
Instead of playing hours on end to see every great aspect of the game, you play a small amount of time and see if this interests you or not.
All the while still receiving some sort of feedback.
And I'll say it again, I took away some helpful pointers from this.
Because this is the first time I've seen someone else play my game, every thing was fresh and new to him, and I got to hear his honest opinion on things.
More variety in enemies, cheesy dialogue, cutting short a unnecessary long walk, etc.
This is helpful. When I've gotten feedback in comments or however, you don't hear some of the little things.
You get a, "Great game man!" or "I liked it, but it needs alot of work" while these are still valid, it's awesome to hear it straight from the horses mouth so to speak.
The whole point of this is to NOT give feedback on anything past the intro.
We have the Let's trys and whatnot for that, and reviewers to go indepth on the game as a whole.
I think this is a unique way, and if ya'll don't like it, maybe you should consider your own video sessions.
I'm not trying to argue with anyone here, just stating I found it helpful. :]

Can't we all just get along?
yessir, mr. buzzlight year. :]
your avatar always makes me picture tim allen wearing a buzz lightyear suit typing these nice things.
it's that enthusiastic smirk he has too, lol.
But I think some people are kinda missing the point here.
These 10minute playthroughs aren't supposed to be indepth feedback sources, simply first impressions of one guy.
and I actually got some nice feedback for it being so short, as I haven't seen my game through the eyes of someone else playing, and that in it self is worth it.
What's your white whale?
author=kentonaauthor=Fallen-Grieverwhat do you mean?
If your white whale is a videogame/record/film/possession then you need to get out more...
what else is there? a possession covers a lot of bases
shit, even a girlfriend is easier to get then some of the things I collect.

I agree with Shortstar here(and bonehead), the first 10-15 minutes of a game is really important to me.
Rpgmaker made games anyways, commercial games I usually try at least a good while(as I probably spent money on it)
But RM games are different, being amateur made games there are bound to be bad ones, and we all know this.
When it comes to RM games, first impressions is everything. if I started a game and the graphics didn't match and there were typos everywhere, and the story just came off cheesy or boring, I usually just turn it off.
Our amateur designed games really need to pull the player in fast, because personally speaking I don't want to spend even 1hours+ on a RM game before it gets good.
If the beginning comes off bad or poorly designed then that leaves a pretty bad impression of what is to come.

author=NecrileThanks! always nice to hear. :]
Infection, I'm going to hafta play your game after that :o Looks really cool, man.
I'd recommend trying Version 2.0 first tbh, it's more solid than the original Infection. But it's not that long, and the demo doesn't future key story elements just yet.
But hey, if you try it out could you give me a heads up if it crashes for you? (on the original)
I'd like to track this problem down and fix it. :]
Giving Feedback: Pass or Fail
Woot! A pass! :]
Thanks for this short playthrough, sorry about it crashing like that though. I noticed it was during the zombies turn to attack, so maybe a file is missing? I'll look into it.
I'll also definitely cut the tunnel short, you're right, really no reason to have it go on for too long.
I just wanted to convey the idea that you were passing under the city a good distance, but making it shorter won't hurt at all.
I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
You've certainly gotten me excited about picking this project up full start.
Although I've started version 2.0, which has a nice questing system, and v2 isn't so aimless. It's also a solo play, no party members. It recycles all the graphics(including the characters) as I intend on releasing it as the final product of Infection.
But yeah, I'll look into the crashing, hopefully fix that all(unless it was on your end, I know we had trouble setting it up)
And just for a note, the bottles and the piece that looks like trash on the starting rooftops is food items! :P
Maybe I should add that sparkle after all...

Hey, I noticed that the sound effects is working for the games, but not the music.
Now, I can't tell you exactly what the problem is, but I know it's something silly.
You can fix this by for example, going into the Music folder of the game and playing one of the music files there in a media player.
This happens to me every now and then and I have a "battlend2" file from the 2k/3 RTP at the ready, and when I play it, it fixes the silent game music.
Like I said, I have NO IDEA what does this or how to explain it, just a fix for it.
It seems like it happens when I'm listening to music on a media player, it shuts off the RM game music.
This might not help, but it's always worth a try!
