FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER

This is the party I used to master Soulcage--probably the only undead tree I can think of in any RPG ever.
Mog warned about using fire magic, but if you blind him his fire blades rarely connects anyway. I still only got a single medal for damage taken because he used Fira an awful lot, but I got full medals on everything else. For me he opened up the fight with Fira, which knocked out 1500-2500 HP on everybody. After that I am able to get up Boon, Magic Breakdown, and Stoneskin RW to bring that down to a much more manageable 200-500 damage.
Between Steal Power and Armor Break, Zidane was able to do a pretty impressive 5500 damage with Dark Buster, which I wasn't expecting. I can't wait to use this Steal Power ability with Locke in a few weeks since I have Locke's Rising Sun. Lacking a synergy weapon, Steiner was only hitting for about 4k with Fira Sword and Tyro's Attunement II RW that increases vulnerability damage.
Sazh proved pretty invaluable for this fight since he could fill my Magic Breakdown, Renewing Cure, and Shellga gap in a single slot. Renewing Cure was nice because it remedies the Sap status that accompanies Mustard Bomb. I was worried I would have to drop Steiner for somebody else but then remembered Sazh has White Magic 3, so I switched his Dark Buster to Zidane and was good to go.
Vivi chilled until Blind worked, and then nuked the rest of the fight. I did have to use the Mystery Veil limit break once because a Fira snuck through before I refreshed Stoneskin (fortunately Shellga and Magic Breakdown were still active).
I could've probably gotten away with Eiko not bringing Protectga, but I'm glad I did because sometimes Soulcage's physical attacks sneak through Blind and it takes awhile just to get Blind to stick anyway.
[RMVX ACE] 'Evade' vs. 'Parry'. Let's talk.
When I use both Parry and Dodge it's mostly for flavor and not anything meaningful under-the-hood. You can certainly diversify their functionality, though, and Liberty offered up some examples. More recently I've chosen to abstract them into a single Evasion stat and leave the flavor in text and imagination. I pretty much always keep Block a separate thing, though, because I've always liked Block reducing damage instead of negating it.
Fun With Formulas

Here's where I'm wrong: I was saying that ATK was impacting the formula in ways that weren't beneficial.
I would have responded sooner to your statement but it actually took a bit of time to figure out exactly why I had included the extra +ATK initially (go me for not taking notes on the topic). On the surface it looks like a big mistake, since it garbles the numbers and eliminates the ability to make player-sensical number scaling.
On the flip side, however, it prevents ATK from scaling out of control if a power-leveled character hits an early game target. Without the extra +ATK, a mere 548 ATK could deal 30,000 damage to a 10 DEF target. I don't mind easily killing a 10 DEF target. But I do mind how awkward it feels for 548 ATK to do 30,000 damage, especially when it's generally doing around 550 damage. Furthermore, by raising DEF from 10 to 50, damage falls to just 6,000. Again, that feels really awkward (even though on a hits-to-kill basis it makes perfect sense).
A better way to control this is to feed in actor or target level (or both) into the formula, instead of using attack again. It's a very predictable number you can design around too.

Man that font is so good.
It's one of the first variable-width fonts I made, and it's my personal favorite. My first few were pixel-thin fonts, more like GBA fonts, but I've always liked those chunkier SNES fonts designed for fuzzy CRT televisions. It does have a negative side-effect of consuming a lot of screen space very quickly, though.
author=LockeZStats are very important and I would like to show specific changes. I had them in another menu prototype but had even less real-estate to work with as a result. It's something I'll still revisit whenever I go back to doing some UI design, iterating new layouts.
Not crazy about the fact that the stats only show Speed being reduced to 68, and not what it's being reduced from (like "Speed 71 -> 68"). But I can live with it. Maybe stats are a bigger deal in the types of games I play than they are in your game.

What a lot of people won't be able to live with is the fact that you don't have an up or down arrow next to the numbers that change. Specifically, color-blind people. One in twelve males is color-blind, and red/green color-blindness is the most common type.
Excellent reminder. This is something I often overlook, despite about half of my coworkers being colorblind. This will be on the top of my list for the next iteration. It also gives me an excuse to get back into my GUI module and add symbols again. When I changed my text rendering way-back-whenever, this is a functionality I broke and have yet to fix. I can still add symbols by just attaching arbitrary graphics to a GUI element, but that's different than embedding it into text objects.
Also got started with abilities and elemental resistances and what not: output_015.webm
Also a very simple particle emitter which can be attached to anything with a rect, which I've used to spawn the smokey things on the comets. Also added shields, which I don't think the video shows at all. Added critical strikes, evasion, some other numbers too.

Well, I guess my FF7 team got stronger. What's not seen is the first pull that was all 3-star items I already had. So FF9 was a bust, and still remains a weak realm for me. I also spent 25 mythril upgrading my inventory again, so it'll be awhile before I can do another pull at all.

Oh well; it could have gone worse.
Learn to cherish those FF2 5-star items, because it's a difficult realm to synergize for. Old FF gets overlooked a lot.

I am working on set of weapons in castlevania style, this however is called Lamevania.
I think about making a Castlevania fangame pretty much every weekend. Godspeed.
Anyway, I took Thanksgiving completely off but I've been doing work on equipment stuff the last few evenings. I sort of hate making these kinds of UIs because I don't know how to fit all of the information I want on a single screen. So this time I've opted to do a paged stat panel so you can flip through the details. Selecting a given equipment slot automatically turns to the page that has the most relevant stats for that slot. It also predicts all stat changes, like how equipping a two-handed weapon will remove your off hand weapon.

Woke up to this, so that is pretty dope.
A) Bartz is an awesome character who now has an awesome weapon. It's important to have a good dagger in every realm because it makes that party slot flexible. Sap is useful and hard to find, and now I can unfollow my Bartz and Vaan RWs for that specialized need, meaning a higher probability to get the defensive RW I want.
B) That's my third Crystal Sword. I'll likely never need three FF6 sword users who don't also have access to other weapon types (I have 5-star Lightning Blade, Zantetsuken, Golden Spear, and Partisan), but I like being able to -complete- an item.
B) Second Crystal Shield. Despite being an FF6 shield, combining this into a pseudo-5-star actually makes it a usable option.
C) Third FF6 Main Gauche. I'll never need it since I have two 4+ daggers that are better. Again, another complete item.
D) Totally new weapon for me, and I'm already 2/3 of the way to completing this FF5 crossbow.
E) Totally new FF3 Demon Mail. I like to collect shit, so I like seeing new stuff in my inventory.
F) Second FF4 Ice Armor. I do have some gaps in my FF4 armors. If I can get a third one of these then that will help in the short term.
G) Both the FF6 White Dress and Sage Surplice are completed items for me. I used these as upgrade fodder to combine my new Ice Armor.

Blech. I was unable to kill FF13's Bahamut Elite before the doom timer got me. He's quite tanky and resists armor/mental breaks. I'll go back later either with a higher level party or with a bard or a +Attack RW.

Ninja Chainmail. Thancred's relic armor that gives him Death Blossom (the aoe phys/slow, like Mirage Dive). It's my best Light Armor.
Ah... I do remember this and see this RW pop up from time to time. I didn't pull on that banner. Seemed wasteful. A) I don't have any personal investment in FF14's characters. I skipped nearly every cutscene. FF11's story was better. B) Why would I want synergy weapons for a realm that only exists in a 5-dungeon event? C) You have a startling number of unique limit breaks. I have a lot of 5-start stuff but very few limit breaks.
