FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER

Cure magic doesn't scale that well with Mind the way Dia magic does. You get less for each point of mind than you'd think, which is why Cecil can heal okay and Mog can heal well. Curaja is basically a full heal and Curaga is close enough.

FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER

You're basing the feasibility of characters on abilities that may not even exist ever, and certainly don't exist right now and won't for at least 6 months.

FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER

The biggest reason I don't use Sabin much is this:

5-star Lightning Blade
5-star Zantetsuken
5-star Partisan
5-star Gold Spear
5-star Rising Sun
4++ Gravity Rod

Which of those is Sabin going to use?

So that's Kimahri and Mog's problem. Mog can at least get by with White Magic 4 for now, until they start adding useful White Magic 5 spells. Edward is less useless than I thought - I didn't realize he could use Support 5 for some reason. Was he buffed at some point?

Which useful WM5 abilities are they adding? Even the WM6 abilities that are out in Japan are useless, like Reraise.

Mog is versatile. I don't mind him, he's better than most FF6 characters at least. Setzer's only saving grace is Support 5. Edgar's okayish if you really need a knight or some light aoe with his decent default SB. Sabin and Strago... lol. Mog has the option of dealing nice Jump/Wind Jump damage with a spear, or can Diaga/Curaga/Protectga/Shellga with a staff... or just a nice spear/dagger + Pro/Shel as a utility auto-attacker. It also helps that he has some really nice soul breaks -- I know I'll be pulling for Holy Spear, SSB Fest be damned.

Setzer is also the only Support 5 that can use swords.

Edgar is fine, but not great. Generally you're looking to put something cool in a tank's second abilty slot, and for Edgar it's a Status Buster of some flavor--so if you need a tank that can also poison or blind then he's your guy. It's just that his competition is able to slot Retaliate, which synergizes with Draw Fire ridiculously well, or Cecil who can uses the Buffga abilities--both of which are more important than Support 3 in 95% of scenarios.

Mog is dope. Like I said, the only problem with him is he's stuck at Lv50. His limit breaks are dope, his kit is dope, his stats are well-rounded. You won't be Diaga nuking with him, but you'll certainly be healing, buffing, and jumping with him. Dances are situationally good and will eventually be great.

I haven't used Sabin and Strago much. They're my only sub-50 FF6 characters. Sabin is probably better now that Punishing Palm is out. I'm not even sure what Strago has access to other than Black 5.

FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER

Only problem with Mog and Edward is they're stuck at Lv50 right now. Kimahri doesn't have any excuse.

Anyway, almost done with the elites. I only have two left in FF10, which should be quite a lot easier than the 130+ difficulty stuff, and then I'm totally caught up.

Looking forward to being able to field Locke again soon. He was one of my first level capped characters. I've been using his Rising Sun on Setzer in the mean time.

FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER

I pretty much always grab the crystals first. I figure if something happens that prevents me from playing, I at least want to get the most important parts done.

And I probably will clear the dungeons. I have less remaining than I thought. I think it's going to suck having a smaller mythril stream once I'm left with only daily dungeons.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

Regarding boob windows: In the sixteen hours I have already invested, I haven't noticed any. I am definitely not saying it doesn't exist, but that it's at least insignificant enough that it hasn't stood out. I have some bikini armor--like actual swimwear bikinis, but if you put it on a dude then they're shirtless to match their booty shorts. Appropriately, swimsuit armor sometimes comes with swimming speed augments, though little else so I'd never actually equip it.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

If makes you feel better, Liberty, there was a male character in the first Xenoblade who became stronger the more naked he was. Glorious Dunban, the naked dodge tank.

FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER

Oh boy. New dungeons. Maybe I won't clear them out by the end of the month, then. I did clear out the FF8 elites, though, so I think all that remains is FF2, FF4, and like one dungeon in FF10 (not counting the new dungeons yet). On the final stage of the boss rush at the moment--waiting on stamina to finish it out. I recommend bringing some mitigation since the second boss does quite a bit of damage and regular old Magic Break on Auron wasn't enough to keep my medals.

Completed all of the bonus battles. Yojimbo is a pushover but he did manage to blast Lulu for 3000 damage in the first turn. After that damage was minimal due to Gilgamesh tanking with Retaliate, Protectga, Steal Power, and August's Sentinel Guard. I assumed Yojimbo was vulnerable to fire since it was a medal condition, so I swapped Tidus out for Bartz so I could use Firaga Strike. Turns out he takes regular old damage from fire and that was unnecessary... then again, I wouldn't have had Steal Power without Bartz either. Wakka was my Mental Breakdown guy to keep Lulu and Yuna's damage going and had Revive in case Zanmato killed somebody, though it didn't. I missed a medal on turns taken and that's it. Yojimbo's puppy is involved in the fight, but is untargetable and only does single-target physical attacks from what I could tell, which only fueled more Retaliate from Gilgamesh.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

I played it all day and it's pretty dope so far. Quite different than the Wii game in several ways.

You create your own (mostly) silent protagonist from a fairly limited character creator instead of there being a fully voiced character written by the developers. The new class system is a lot cooler than the skill category thinger from the last game. This time it branches out, splitting into three separate classes at each stage, which teaches your dudes different abilities based on what route you invest in, and there's a lot to choose from. A lot more stat diversity than the last game too, so there are more things to consider when outfitting your character. I haven't unlocked the mecha yet, so I'm looking forward to whenever that happens. A considerable portion of the story is told through its sidequests, of which there are shitloads of, and the game world is almost completely open to you right from the start--I've only run into like two artificial progression gates so far and the first one was in the intro. This makes it a much more open-ended, exploration-driven game than most JRPGs, which is always a nice change-of-pace from the norm.

I don't really have a lot to complain about yet except for a few things. The music is a lot different than the Wii game. I guess it fits the game well enough, but the original's soundtrack is too great to compare. It's still a Monolith Soft RPG, so all of the characters look like expression-less dolls, which I've never liked. If you didn't find it a problem in Xenosaga or Xenoblade, you probably won't mind it here, though. The UI is tiny. My living room is pretty large and I keep the floor open, so my couch is far away from the TV. I can't really read a lot of the things on the UI from that distance, so I've ended up tossing a bean bag up close and chilling on that. Like the Wii game, you still select your abilities using the d-pad and an action bar at the bottom of the screen. I think they missed an opportunity to put these commands on the tablet screen, which has been reserved for a mapping system that could've easily been suppressed during combat instead. By extension, they could've offloaded a lot of the UI onto the tablet during battle. Like Xenoblade before it, it's very cluttered when there's a lot going on. The monsters are awesome looking and I'd like to get a clearer look at them while filling them with bullets.
