LIGHTNINGLORD2'S PROFILE

The site owner spouts white supremacist garbage and the mods react to my concerns by laughing at me. I'm not going to put up with a toxic community like this anymore.

Dialog and Grammar

Word/Grammar mistakes are acceptable if they are consistent to the characters - if one character keeps mistaking "Angel" and "Angle", you notice it as a character flaw. If it comes up on random places, you see it as a creator's mistake.

Looks like the world will end on Saturday, May 21st

The day of the apocalypse is when Chuck Norris' Total Gyms run out of business.

Turn Based-ABS?

Final Fantasy 6 allows you to play on Wait Mode as well.

Anyways, the extra-turn-by-speed mechanic is likely to break the game if you don't handle it with care since the players spam the enemies dead with their countless actions (unless bosses have an obscenely high speed stat).

Turn Based-ABS?

However, there are some games who use the ATB thing and cut away the waiting time for your bar to fill. Plus they show the turn order.

Story Idea

I can't help but say that it reminds me of Persona 4 (the fog, the many dialogue options and the multiple endings). Still, it's a decent concept for a game.

My game design brain dump thread

About ideas in general: Examine the differences between your system and the bog standard in RPGs (The early Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest games, for instance, have several elements that are considered such) and try to work on it to make it better. Don't be different for the sake of being different.

Does a game's download size matters to you?

If the game is presented well, I wouldn't mind if it takes a while to download. And I doubt that you get 1 GB of space with an RPG Maker game unless you're really code-inefficient.

References in gaems

The coolest pool to draw references from is your old games - it was hilarious when there was a gameplay segment in Pokemon XD that is pretty much directly ripped off of Colosseum (the first location of the latter game is near exactly restaged).

Real-World Settings

This is present in the DS game Nostalgia - the game is fairly interesting.

Is grinding a flaw in rpgs?

I think Barbaros has the best way to prevent overleveling - if the player is about to level up to an overly high point, they get slaughtered like cattle.
