LIGHTNINGLORD2'S PROFILE

The site owner spouts white supremacist garbage and the mods react to my concerns by laughing at me. I'm not going to put up with a toxic community like this anymore.

Games that use RTP graphics?

No gameplay, graphic, story etc. element really makes the game automatically better/worse - it depends almost entirely how it is implemented and how these elements synergize with eachother.

Is grinding a flaw in rpgs?

I rarely have issues with that, in most cases where the game is set up to grind for a boss, I don't; yet I still win the battle. There are rare exceptions, though, but the point is that it is subjective how much grinding is required. To draw on the Pokemon example, I won the Red Battle in Soul Silver with a team at around Level 50 because I made up a good strategy (and team).

tl;dr: The need to grind is different for every player.

What's up with the damn profanity?

"Enough is enough! I've had it with this motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane! Everybody, strap in - I'm gonna open those fucking windows."

I don't see anything wrong with that kind of sentence.

Open-ended dialog responses

There's a mechanic in some Animal Crossing games that makes people respond to your letter you wrote yourself. I'm not sure how advanced this mechanic is, but it might be worth looking into.

Short Games vs Longer Games

I'd say: there's nothing wrong with making a game short, but there should be some length to it, or you may end up making a game with as much content as John Cage's 4'33.

What is the Biggest Design Flaw in Games?

I highly value the guard command, as it allows my party to get healed before they die. The damage reduction is also helpful in games such as Persona 4, where the enemy sets up an attack that will one-hit-ko you if you don't guard (and you can forget about element resistances too, as the better ones of these do almighty damage).

Who do you like to play as

I have not much interest in prescripted storylines whatsoever - Moreoften than not, it forces me to act completely against my intentions, which pretty much kills immersion.

Using "retro" or "oldschool" as an excuse for terrible gameplay mechanics and awful story.

Totally agree with this one.

Also, Making tons of touch encounters on a narrow map with escape resulting in immediately re-fighting them.

Turn-Based...dead?

However, just because some gaming companies don't make turn-based games doesn't mean you can't.
