A Crossing in Rielle

Well, uh, hello again.

I suppose it goes without saying that Things Came Up as they so often do and I had to put this on the backburner for quite some time, not willing to half-ass the work that remained to be done. Now that the waters have stilled a bit, I've finally got the time to give it the attention it deserves. I won't be putting a date on the thing until it's actually done this time, but I promise you it will see a release.

Ever so close, now...

Unfortunately (or is that predictably?), I'm going to miss today's target date. Should've known, right?
The game really is very nearly finished however, perhaps just a few days more to wrap things up; mapping is done, balance feels good, and everything seems to be in proper working order. Just a touch more wrenchwork on the final area and it'll be ready for you all to tear apart!

It's time! The DEMO has been RELEASED!

I was wondering why that pesky goop wouldn't move!

Can't put much time into it at the moment, but the charm factor is through the roof. Really top-notch stuff.

Ever so close, now...

Much appreciated! I'm still largely enjoying my playtests even after all this time grappling with the thing.

What are your favorite and least favorite parts of gam mak?

I usually only enjoy mapping in the brief mental window between "this is barren garbage" and "there are only so many ways to dress up a map".

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Final Fantasy II on Playstation, about 15 hours in. Always heard this to be something of a black sheep, so imagine my surprise that I've found every bit of it to be cool as shit so far -- superior across the board to the original, and I really enjoyed the original.

Love the flexibility allowed by the leveling system. The initial stats nudge you into making Maria the prototypical female spellcaster, for example, but I said fuck that by putting a sword in her hand and gassing her HP up higher than anyone else.

Side quest: locate the painter's lost apostrophe.

Man, this place is a time capsule. My last post is 2010!

Damn, looks like you've got me beat.

Favorite Enemies or Bosses?

Ornstein and Smough - Dark Souls

A test of all the skills accrued through your Souls adventures. You will master spacing. You will master dodging. You will master positional control. And you will be patient. Or you will die. Over and over and over.

A real treat, every time. Artorias is up there as well.

Game of the year and things

No real standout this year (not counting Dark Souls PC). Crusader Kings was good, Xcom was good, Grimrock was good, Dishonored was good, Hot Shots Golf Vita was good, so on and so forth.

However, based on what I just experienced with 999, I can rather safely say that it's Virtue's Last Reward's to lose. I fully expect to be blown away all over again.
