Palasiel Quest - Demo A (v1.2)

So excited! Can't wait to hear Saoirse's voice! When I heard it in one of the YouTube videos I fell instantly in love with her! Must be the accent. ;)
Glad to hear your excitement! I hope you enjoy it!
I just played it and must say that the swamp was frustrating at times as I didn't know where to go, but I actually managed to get to the boss battle and beat the crap out of him/her. I was quite dissapointed when I heard Saoirse's voice as she lost her flirtarious tone which I loved about her. Also, the way you threw us into the playable part of the story was too...drastic; like "what-the-hell-is-going-on!?". But man, you have some sexy voice.

Thank you very much for the feedback! Much appreciated!

The original voice actress for Saoirse (whom you had heard in the prior videos) was recast due to disappearing off the face of the Earth, so the role went to the understudy, so the voice is slightly different.

While I do mention in the information part of the download page that the game does go from the opening cinematic straight to a later portion of the game, I suppose it would be better if I were to mention this information in-game.

Guest Party Members || Side Character Fighting Styles

More guest characters are always welcome!

If it's similar to what happens in "FF6," are guest characters going to be able to "Level-Up" and have the ability to "Equip" new items/weapons/armor just like the other characters? If so, that would be great.

Also, BTW, do we have to "pay" for their services, or something like that, for guest characters? Actually, that would be pretty funny and would make a lot more sense; nothing's always free. You could do it where a character joins and demands, like, 50 gold pieces for an hour of gametime to be in your group, otherwise they'll just leave you. And if they do leave you, like a wandering thief, or something, they can steal some items from you if you refuse to pay them, as a penalty.

Still looking forward to this. ^^

Side characters, have their weapons locked, so you can't change or de-equip their weapons (except for Soltier, whose weapons you can free change due to his fighting style). This isn't the case for armour, though. Players can freely mess around with side characters armour, and can even strip them of their armour, just before they leave, meaning free equipment! Side characters do level up, but do not join but do not learn any new skills, as they already have extensive skillsets. Making them learn skills would be redundant as they don't stick around long enough for it to be worth it.

The way the side and guest characters join at the moment are circumstantial situation. They might join due an escort mission, or perhaps the protagonists join THEM. They never stay for long, though, and only stick around for as long as the story demands.

However, I do like your suggestion, and might think about ways to implent something like that. Though, that might not be in the pilot episode, but more likely in Episode 2. :)

Using Final Fantasy Music for a Final Fantasy type game?

While it's your own call whether to use FF9 music or not, I think it'd be best to mix and match and use music for non-commercial use as Kyrsty said.

If I'm playing an RM game, and I hear a popular Final Fantasy piece suddenly, it's going to be like: "Oh, hey that's from Final Fantasy IX!" and break immersion for me.

But that's just my two cents.

Palasiel Quest Dev: Skits and stuff

Wow, the voice actors in this sound incredible, just like real paid professional artists. Where'd you get these guys, man?

Overall, everything is shaping up to be really great. Keep it up!

A number of them I met on the Voice Acting Alliance. Talented individuals they are.

And thanks!

Pretty nice. I love the artwork.
It'll look better if the class option had an icon.

I'm actually trying to figure out a way to get rid of the Class option, since it's not being used.

And if you would centre options in the left upper window.

Um, I'm confused, they actually are centered.

For some reason, I don't really like the yellow text or borders that much. Why not make it all "white" to make it stand out a bit better?

Other than that, I do like the portraits but would prefer it if it showcased the entire portrait rather than just showing off the one half of their sides.

(Sry for the nitpicking. X_x)

I actually plan on changing the windowskin, since it doesn't fit with the color theme of the game which is black and red. I'll make note to have white text. Thanks.

Also, the portraits are like that because, personally, I think it looks pretty cool. That, and the same portraits are used in the dialogue in-game.

Random observation; the font seems kind of small. It looks weird with all that space in that text box.

You are correct in that, and I do plan on increasing the font size. It was just left like that, because I was originally using facesets not too long ago before I got the bust portrait images. I realize this leaves me with a lot of text space, so yes this will be amended.

Semi-hiatus over?

Yes. Actually working towards a demo release.
