MILENNIN'S PROFILE

I create games because I enjoy gaming, telling stories, writing dialogue and drawing. Making a game is all of those things combined into one. However, my greatest passion with game making is designing battle systems that require thought and resource management within battle itself. I'm always looking into improving my skills, so if you've played one of my games, please do leave a piece of feedback on my page.

Linearity OK? Are choices important?

What do people think about choices in RPGs? Are they an important aspect to a game to make it more enjoyable to play, or would a linear experience be just as good? Do you think a game with a bunch of choices that result in different, smaller things is better or more fun than a game that focuses all its energy on one big linear path?

Mostly opinion gathering, but feel free to discuss the subject of choices in RPGs.

Transparant faceset edges (Photoshop help)

I need a bit of help with something in Photoshop. I've started making facesets for my characters for my VXA game, but it's hard to get the edges completely transparant.
This is how it currently looks like in the game:

But I want to remove the blue around the edges. My knowledge with Photoshop is pretty limited. Anyone know if there'd be a easy of making solid edges?

Combat systems: Do's and Dont's & Opinions

I'm interested in what people think of RPG combat systems. What are the things you like to see in a combat system. What are things that annoy you? What are things you absolutely need in a combat system to be able to enjoy it? What are things that frustrate the hell out of you? etc etc.

Combat system covers:
-Type of system
-Aggro
-Level ups
-Equipment
-Skills
-Conditions
-Monsters
-Difficulty
-Length
-Animations

Can I use RM2K sprites in VXA?

As I have just finished my first game ever, I've been coming up with ideas for a next game already. The game I've made is created in RPG Maker 2000, but I want to do some different things in a next game, like including a combat system, and maybe some more complex mechanics. I was thinking it would probably be wise to make my next game in a modern engine, like VXA.
But I want my next game to be sort of a sequel to my first game, in how it continues the story from where the first game ended. It'll use the same characters, And I'd like to re-use their sprites. Because they took quite a while to make, and I really like how they look.

My question is: is it possible to use RM2K sprites in VXA? Would it look ok, or really out of place? Also, is it possible to use RM2K chipsets in VXA, or does VXA use different tile sizes?

[RM3K] - Project did a rollback - But still got files - HELP

Ok, so this is the problem:
*I start up RPGMaker 2003.
*I open my project.
*RM3K loads an outdated version of the game, missing many maps.
*The maps, however, are still in my project folder.
*Opening the missing map files in .TXT shows the data (dialogues, events etc.) is all still in there.

The question is:
*How do I restore my project so it shows up all the maps again?

Little background on the project:
*This actually happened many years ago, and it's my first RPGMaker project ever. I think the rollback happened after a PC clean-up and putting my files back to my PC from a back-up. After that it just refused to show the game in its full state.
