MORTIFERE'S PROFILE

An aspiring game designer. I have absolutely no knowledge of game design in any aspect and am frantically searching for more information. Some article or another led me to this website and so far so good.

As for my likes, well a few would include music (currently learning guitar), anime, martial arts, movies, reading, art, photography, and it goes without saying, video games :p. There's more of course but that's just what comes to mind.

Currently I'm in the military, preparing for the civilian life in less than 2 years (hence the frantic searching and learning).

I'm always open for new advice, friends, anything really.

Thoughts on the Number of Skills/Spells per character.

I think that this also depends on how much grinding one will do in your game. Say you have a lot of enemies (with a lot of variety), then generally, in my opinion, you would want a few more varied attacks. Reason being because if you have too few, your player will get bored of repetitious attacks while grinding a lot. And vice versa, if you have few enemies, use less abilities.

As this may be hard to come by (and I'm speaking from lack of experience of game making, just a suggestion), I suggest you create many abilities and then begin to shorten them as you nail down your battle system and enemy numbers and variety. Then you and maybe others playtest your game to weed out the unnecessary abilities.

Thoughts On: Guilty Gear Series

How does Melty Blood implement that fighting engine? Does it allow you to create your own combos or something?

Haha, yeah that's me. As proof, you can check out my myspace page: myspace.com/bl00dofalucard

There's me before the military with the long hair and then the after's as such. :)

Thoughts On: Horror Games

Bravo Orig, you have good taste. I'll say, Siren was a good game despite it's almost Nintendo hard gameplay. I had rented it when it first came out and didn't beat it cause it was so hard, haven't played it since.

Sanitarium, what I played of it, was indeed an awesomely disturbing point-and-click game. I think I may still have one or two of the discs somewheres. Unfortunately I never got to finish it because I had lost the 3rd disc and couldn't find another copy in the local gamestop. Eventually I forgot about it altogether but now I want to look back into it as well. And if any of the other point-and-click horrors are anything like Sanitarium then I wouldn't mind playing those as well.

I may also look into the acclaimed Clock Tower game, seeing as it's the second or third time I've read that it's a good game. Thanks Orig, now I have more games to keep in mind when looking to add to my repertoire,.

@Mortifere, um when i said i don't mind requests i meant like ideas, i don't really like straight up copying other pictures, sorry i was so vague!! i might do it at some point but best not keep your hopes up. in the meantime do you think you could put it in a spoiler tingaling(if they work)?
sorry, i feel mean now.

Oh sorry about that lol. I just wanted to see how creative you could change my picture to look lol. No one's ever drawn me before so I thought it would be interesting. Sorry about the mis-understanding though ^_^

Thoughts On: Horror Games

I agree with you Darken, but at least we can say the rest of the game made up for that oversight. I haven't played a tension heavy game like that in a while. Is there a sequel coming out? I know there was some kind of animated movie of sorts released.

As for the Wii version, I'm skeptical but giving it the benefit of the reviews lol.

So basically I want a Xbox 360.

Well slowly the line between consoles and PC are getting blurry, though, they will never merge I don't think. But this is damn close:

Ben Hack's Xbox 360 Mod:

If I could get my hands on one for this deployment it would be a sweet deal.

Thoughts On: Horror Games

Haha, no kidding. I remember those days. I think I had started off with Doom 3: Ultimate or something like that. I was genuinely spooked, especially when those big meatball floating heads came out of nowhere lol.

Oh, also, I forgot to mention one of my favorite horrors is also Fatal Frame. I've only played the first one thus far but man that is a spooky game if you can get into it. And Clocktower 3 was pretty good too.

Ooh ooh, can you do one of this:

Pretty please? Your talents are excellent! I wish I knew how to draw people in the first place =/

Thoughts On: Lost Oddessy

Haha, well I will agree that the pacing can be not harmonious with the plot and gameplay at times, but that to me was a small blemish on a welcome JRPG that offered a little some new to the genre. Though I'm willing to argue that next-gen graphics and capabilities had a part in that (for things like cinematic / dramatic qualities).
