2023 Gaming Diary

Man, I really fell behind on this.

My most recente finish has been Project Wingman, a game very much in the same vein as Ace Combat and I quite enjoyed all of it. It's a game that improves upon the Ace Combat formula quite nicely. Allowing more varied weapon loadouts instead of the classic Ace Combat "Standard Weapon" and "Special Weapon" is something that I really enjoyed toying around with.

The plane selection is not as wide as in some Ace Combat titles, but I didn't really notice this too much at all because all the planes that were available didn't feel lacking in any way. I would've wished for there to be a single agile double-seater plane for reason I will explain soon, but the lack of one doesn't detract from the game's great selection of planes, both real and fictional.

Talking on double seater planes, something this game did that I wished Ace Combat had done was give your backseater pilot not just dialogue, but an actual fully fleshed personality. It was nice and actually encouraged me to use twin seater aircraft more just so I could find out more about this extra characters in the roster of colorful characters already present in the game.

The world is also interestingly set up, it does kina suffer from the trop of technology stagnating hard after an apocalypse even though we're 400+ years into a new prosperous era, but I don't mind since you see a lot of high tech advancament in areas of the game world and it's a good enough excuse to get you to use all these iconinc planes of the real world while still taking place on our Earth but with entirely new nations and factions.

The game mechanics are also all very solid, the planes all control very nicely, the weapon choices are all great and the option between some planes to either have flares or a module that allows you to do post-stall maneuvers is also a great touch. All in all, I believe Project Wingman is a great game and a great contemporary to the Ace Combat series and the way the Ace Combat fandom has welcome this game fills me with joy and I hope to both Ace Combat and wahtever future projects the team behind Project Wingman have in store keep giving us lots of jet-fueled action-drama for the years to come.

Now, I also finished Zorga's Sweet Middle Ground 1-5 games but this was months ago if not over half a year ago. I don't have them too fresh in my memory, but all of them have increasingly good dialogue and characterisation. The main cast and supporting characters are all pretty cool and fun. The games revolve more on following along with the story than anything with some puzzle elements thrown in here and there. The later entries are heavier on gameplay elements, mainly puzzles and eventually even dungeon delving, and they are all handled pretty well within the setting of the each individual game. All in all, I'd recommend anyone here to give not just all the Sweet Middle Ground games a try, but all of Zorga's games a try. He makes great games and it's always a blast to experience his amazing writing and dialogue.

EDIT: I realized now that I also finished Resident Evil 4 Remake and Gothic 3 this year, I need to collect my thoughts on both games and add them here, or just give a short snipped because I'm lazy.

Spam bots kind of suck (Shocking Consumer Reports Exposed) Is it Legit? (MUST READ)

For wathever reason I thought that Shocking Consumer Reports Exposed was secretly the full meaning behind Strak, as in, Strak was an acronym, and then I realized that I am an idiot and have no pattern recognition and make up patterns out of nothing.

I internalize.

Keep rationalizing.

I euthanize.

Euthanize onwards brother.

Secret Santa 2023 ::

What I'd like:
-Fanart
-Fangame
-Or anything cool that comes to your mind!
*I like tanks and jets and military stuff in general if you are lacking for ideas, fanart for any of my games would also be neat.

What I'd rather not like:
-No more reviews for Temple of Memories please, it already has more of those than it deserves
-Let's plays

If all else fails:
-My Steam Wishlist is here, don't shill out any big bucks, if you have to go for a steam gift, make it a cheap one at least. And as I said, only go for this route if all else fails, but if you have to go this route, no need to apologize, we all have busy lives!
