Oversexualization of Females in Games
post=99464Err? Probably depends on where you live. I said almost always, that's to avoid saying all, because that's definitely not true. I've seen a few see-through tops as well, though it doesn't strike me as being TOO indecent. I guess it's the fact that nothing really happens that much in downtown Burbank. :P
facto 4 lief:
> You'd be amazed at how many exceptions to that rule I can count on my fingers.
> During the summer, the countless amounts of bikini-wearing girls (I do not live by the sea) and see-through tops that has passed my unfortunate nerd-vision has made me realize that womens tits aren't really THAT exciting (oh, who am I kidding)
> Man, have you ever talked to more women than one and that one on a period? Okay, maybe not, but the first thing I saw when I read this was even more straight up deviations from this "fact".

Those enemies look so funny. It would be better to put them on some sort of plane. Are you planning on using a battle back or anything?

What do you do then when the time runs out and they transform into mines? Is it just a forced life loss, or is there a way to get it back into "kill enemy" spree. By "Bad things happen when the timer runs out", I kinda expected something like faster enemies, additional enemies, random effects, slower character, or things like that BEFORE all the stars were taken and you went into punch mode. I was just caught by surprise by the mines is all.
It's an instant death, mainly done just for the sake of having an alternative to the "die from the air" type of thing I've seen in many games, Like in Super Mario Bros. where if the time runs out you die automatically. So for Tina of the Stars, I wanted it to appear like she was being killed by something when the timer runs out.
You make valid points, Ocean. If the communication seems off to you then that's something I can work on with this game as well.
Oversexualization of Females in Games
I tend to use a lot of female main protagonists in my games, simply because I don't see them used that much in other games or anywhere else in the entertainment business. I try to portray women based on their character, and not their appearance and features. I hate hate HATE damsels in distress, or any other situation where women are portrayed as weak and dick-hungry. Needless to say, I sometimes tend to fall into that trap almost unwittingly. I can admit that I'm pretty much as horny as most other nerdy gamers are, and don't necessarily mind seeing big-busted whores. As a result, however, those characters become nothing but eye candy for me, and I overall lose any reason to care about that character (many of such are also portrayed with annoying personalities).
I say, for a sake of having a voice, that you should keep the sexualization with women at a minimum. While we are trying to entertain, we should also make content as believable as possible.
Fact of life:
> Most girls often do not initiate relationships with the opposite sex, especially when they haven't known that person for a while.
> Unless they are going to some club, girls will almost always dress decently in public, nothing that shows the bare, full midriff.
> Girls have just a variety of personalities as men do, not just "Shy and peaceful" or "bad tempered and whiny".
Hope that made sense... Oh and lol @ revengatard.

I tried Tina of the Stars, up to Level 4, where I lost my lives.
The main character felt kinda slow, but I guess it helps navigate the maze better. I liked the music and graphical selection on it, it was really nice.
My complaints are geared mostly towards level 4. First, there are spaces on the map which you think you can walk on but you can't. You're arbitrarily blocked, I'd at least like a rock or something there. I died trying to escape and found that the way I wanted to go was blocked. The flying purples have a really short horizontal pattern, though I got through them safely. But when I got the stars, I went off killing enemies as usual, then suddenly they all turned into mines and I died. What? I didn't know I could even die when I got all the stars, and those mines came out of nowhere once I hit the enemy.
Didn't have trouble with the other stages before it though.
Reminds me of the old Chocobo panic games (and obviously pacman), so I thought it was nice to see a new RPG Maker game do that.
The enemies transformed into mines (or "Perforato", as I've called them) because you didn't complete the level within the given amount of time. That timer (displayed on the right of your HUD), will still countdown even when you collect all of the stars and go on your punching-spree, it only stops when you kill of the monsters.
Level 4 seems to be getting a lot of people, so I'll definitely do something to lower its difficulty, maybe also increase the amount of time set to complete the level, especially since it's a larger, more complex map.
Thanks for your feedback.

Played Tina of the Stars. This is the second time I've played it - still as cutesy as I remember! The gameplay is simple - collect the stars to unlock a (trivial) badguy punching-fest while avoiding said baddies until all the stars are collected.
I died on level 4. :(
Do you think I should lower the difficulty of the game" While I'm trying to create a good, step-by-step increase in difficulty for each level, I want my game to be beatable.
