Looks good EXCEPT! If there were two things I would change it would be first the writing (Which you are obviously aware of) second I would move your character to the right a little to balance out the playing field.

If I ever saw this screen shot before I would have no idea this was a fan made game, I would have thought it was something on the Playstation or Snes that I missed.
