ROWAN'S PROFILE

I'm just a guy interested in making an RPG. I started using RPG Maker way back in RM2k days. My first game was wiped out when my old CPU crashed so yeah.. I decided to make a new one and have been working on it ever since. I mostly enjoy lurking around the RMN forums but I've decided to become more active in the community. I can be a smart-ass at times, but I'm generally an easy going friendly dude.

P.S: Oh yeah, I'm gay (seriously)

What are you jammin' too?

Yes you did :P

Finished Games 2010

Finished Ace Attorney Investigations and Star Ocean 4 this year. I really.. really despised the character designs in SO4... 'kay.

Need more art topics <____<;

I personally prefer Ryotaro/Adachi but
Craze
Kanji/Daisuke, plz.
would suffice.

Settings and environments, and places.

Music and atmosphere are immensely appealing to me.

Some of my most favorite areas off the top of my head are:
Midgar/Junon/Gold Saucer/Cosmo Canyon - FF7
Fisherman's Island - FF8
Virtually anywhere - FFX
Planet Zerard - Rogue Galaxy
and ALOT more..

My favorite RM Examples:
First city in Rei-'s Ascendence
Anywhere in Muse and Kindred Saga

It's not just music/atmosphere to; interaction and aesthetics plays a key role also. I enjoy seeing NPCs in games going about their daily lives. People walking around in a random direction feels unnatural to me.

Oh, music. I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't made it past disc 1 of FF7, but that one location (The Red XII one, Wutai?)

Cosmo Canyon

Games and Why You Make Them

1. How long have you been making games?
I started working on my first game back in 2002 unfortunately I didn't back it up and my CPU crashed. I was turned off after that until 2006 where I got the urge to create another one and have been working on that ever since.
2. How often do you feel like not making games any more? What makes you keep doing it? (Anecdotes are good.)
I usually feel this way when I decide to put my time into something else, like playing console video games or MMO RPG/CardPlayer game. I keep coming back because it's something I'm determined to finish it.
3. What is your motivation for making games? (Do not be facile: You do NOT just do it because it is fun. Lots of other things are fun, and less work, and you could be doing them instead. So fun is part of it, but it's not the whole reason.)
Other then being a huge time sink, I feel that game making is a good way to express my personal interests, art and ideas to other people.

---------------
Man I feel like I'm in a segment of Buttons and Mindy.

Mindy: What are you doing?
Me: Working on a game.
Mindy: WHY!?
Me: Because I feel like it's a good way to express myself
Mindy: WHY!?
Me: Because it's fun.
Mindy: WHY!?
Me: Because having fun feels good!
Mindy: WHY!?
Me: Because I'm human
Mindy: Okay, I love you!! Bye! Bye!

It was absolutely maddening that the only thing to do in FFXIII was cutscene/battle/cutscene/battle/cutscene/battle so on and so forth.

Grandia 3 suffers the same issues as well.
