SHADDOW'S PROFILE

I am a 30 year old amateur game developer. I love to do anything that involves creation; making games, art, music, brainstorming. It doesn't matter, I can and will do it all.

I am very familiar with RMVX and Ace and a bit familiar with XP, and love to help people out. I am currently working on a project, Lullaby, with Jonnie91 and I hope it'll be a great success.

I never know what to say about myself, so if you want to know more, you'll just have to ask me.

The Screenshot Topic Returns

Ah Earthbound, the only game that could seriously call one of it's characters 'Poo' to the giggling joy of me and my teenage friends at the time XD.

I also agree on the ground battle backgrounds.

Secret Santa Surprise~ 2012

Just to state, I will not have internet after today until late, Central Time, on the 21st, so it may be a tiny bit into the 22nd when my gift is uploaded, just so no one thinks I am slacking or anything.

Mutating, feeding and brawling monsters in RAWR

I'm starting to play this too, I love Armor Games, I don't have my code yet, because I just started, but I'll be posting it.

An RPG specific sprite making program, or a tutorial?

author=LockeZ
There isn't an RPG Maker specific sprite editor. iDraw was designed for RPG Maker 2000/2003, but won't work with RPG Maker XP/VX/Ace. Personally I use Photoshop; Gimp is a popular choice as well.

As long as you don't use MS Paint you should be fine. MS Paint will put everything on one layer to make your life miserable, strip all the transparencies out of your images, read your mind and only anti-alias when you don't want it to, randomly delete all your undo steps, take your future wife hostage, put balogna on the hood of your car, drink all your beer, drop your car keys down the sewer, and email your entire porn directory to your mother.

I think I may have just died from laughter, but yes personally I use Photoshop for my sprites, but before I owned it I used Gimp regularly and it is really nice as well, a bit complicated sometimes, but for something as basic as spriting, it works wonders.

An RPG specific sprite making program, or a tutorial?

I found several on youtube when I first started making sprites myself, I also know of several sites that include those tutorials for VX sprites. I found this one most helpful: http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/5717/ellenorrmvxtutorial.png

I would look up how to sprite or sprite tutorial on youtube, you'll be surprised how much you can learn.

The Screenshot Topic Returns

That makes a lot more sense, also it may be unrelated but those sprites are just amazing!

The Screenshot Topic Returns

It's not bad, I suppose. It is very open and sparse for a forest though, it looks more like a plain or maybe a mountain path that happens to have some trees around.

There is nothing really that makes it stand out in any way either, it's all very very standard. Taking a few chances, making something unique and adding more trees can really spice things up.
