SHOOBINATOR'S PROFILE

I am into just about every genre of game really. My brother and I grew up dabbling in RM2k3 on occasion to the point where hearing the RTP soundtrack brings a wave of nostalgia, so I'm most familiar with that engine as far as RPGMaker goes.

Check out my game I'm working on!

[2K3] Terrain & Tile Substitution

author=Xenomic
Well, I just fixed everything up. Took a good 1-2 hours to do (except there's still a bit of an issue with 2 items and a skill), which I'll post later, but overall got it fixed!

Alright! Good to hear!

How to Make an Impervious "Protect" Status?

Good point, and thanks. I guess I really don't need it that much.

I'm glad I could help! :)

[2K3] Terrain & Tile Substitution

Ok, so I'm having a bit of an issue here now. So apparently, it seems that the game flatout will not change the Encounter variable to anything other than 0, despite the fact that I have the coding set up in such a way that it should be reading it down the line (it should be reading the Demon Charm coding and initializing that if applicable after the first coding, no???). Despite fighting a fight, walking 10 steps, and then checking the variable, it stays 0. I've even manually turned it to 1 (while having the Demon Charm equipped), left the debug menu, and came back to it and it went back to 0. Can anyone help with this? As of right now, all of my encounter stuff that I have just flatout won't work because of this issue :<

I'll post some code in a couple of days once I try this out myself.

How to Make an Impervious "Protect" Status?

A limitation of RPG Maker 2003 is that "turns" are counted by each action made by either a party member or an enemy (i.e. they are counted together). So calculating the Pokemon-like effect for exactly ONE turn would be very difficult if possible at all. I would suggest using a different program/engine if you wish to emulate this ability exactly, or you could think about why you need this skill specifically in your game in the first place. Could an alternate skill, which might be better suited for RPG Maker 2003, provide a slightly different effect for the same purpose?

However, you might still have trouble making the spell wear off how/when you want.

[RM2k3] Have a physical skill be affected by a Blind status condition?

Hm...

Thanks for the help! I think I might actually be able to pull something off to suit my taste, but I would have to make a second Blind condition. So there would be one for enemies and another for the party. The enemy condition would prevent skills of a certain physical influence and then wear off based on a percent chance. However, that means Blind will just wear out faster and may be less effective...

I suppose I will have to make a decision one way or the other.

[RM2k3] Have a physical skill be affected by a Blind status condition?

Simply, is there any way to do this (ideally without extra patches/plug-ins)? I am looking at eliminating enemies' standard attack and just using skills, but then, at least right now, their regular physical skills will never be affected by my Blind status. I already have physical/magical attributes in place, which has fixed RM2k3's damage formulas so far, so maybe I could use those somehow to solve this problem?

I've seen you project before actually!
It doesn't necessarily need to be a 20 min game, but as long as it's not going to be some supergame that I'dd have to work forever on, I'm fine; and you already seem to have everything under control anyways, so I doubt I have anything to worry about!

2k3? You'd need to remind me how file transfers work in 2k3 for maps (seriously, that always confused the hell outta me trying to bounce maps between people!) but would be happy enough to work on that.

Could do dialogue, mapping, spriting and monster sprites. Probably ...could work on battlers as well, but I expect that'd take longer; idk why, but I just always had a bit of a mental block with them. Edits would get done faster than fresh redraws, for sure.

Specifically, I'm most interested in non-animated art at the minute (i.e: monsters). Animating sprites, as good as they look, is pretty boring since it's just repeating the same, but sliiightly different art 3~9 times. Monster sprites only need to be drawn once (and thus, buckets more fun), so I'll happily go over your Enemies Tab with sprites ;)

Whichever suits, really. Would like to have a butchers at the storyboard though, then maybe we can discuss specifics.

Okay, cool! I added you as a developer, so you can view the extra pages. Also, as an fyi, some of the character bios in there may not be 100% correct or WIP. Check out the game download if you'd like to see what I have completed so far!

Also, there should probably be monster sprites that I will need at some point, but not for the first dungeon, which I'm working on at the moment. (e.g. I don't plan on using the RTP Satan sprite as the final boss :P) Anyways, it'd probably be best to work on several different kinds of things sequentially, so that more parts of the game will be completed and fully playable versus artwork that won't see the light of day for quite a while.

As for RM2k3 map transfers, I haven't really tried it myself, but I believe all that I would need is the map file itself and the associated tileset image file and any character sets that were used for the event layer. I'm currently using the REFMAP tiles for my maps, and I would like to continue using them. A good bunch of them can be found here.

How much are you interested in dialogue/script writing? I'm not sure if you would consider this a "short" project, but with more people working on it, it would definitely get finished faster. I already have a significant amount planned out and an additional mapper (although his computer is busted or something and hasn't been able to help and won't until early April he said) as well as a 2nd download on the way. Let me know your thoughts. Game link below...

A storyboard is already up for game devs if you want me to add you.

Also, if you are interested, additional help could be (ordered by priority top to bottom):
-mapping
-spell/skill animations
-character sprites
-character battle sprites (I am using RTP graphics right now which is sufficient, but could be improved)
-monster sprites (again, using RTP with a few sprites I found in the RTP style, and could possibly use more)
