No thanks, I don't agree with your opinions and you can argue with me to the death. I personally just want to make a game for fun to express my old creative works. I don't have the skill or handwork to draw good graphics...
You can still change the colours to not look like someone puked on the screen? It does NOT look "old school" or whatever you said you were going for. It looks like someone took some chipset from somewhere and changed the colors to the most boring and out of place possible colours.
Also you can say you won't care all you want, but we all know you DO care since you posted the image here. I guess you're going to ignore anything but "wow that looks awesome bro xD" so why am i even trying...?

Finished off Yume Nikki!

Let's say someone would make a game like Yume Nikki, but without the big empty rooms (which seemed to be what you disliked the most, which is the same thing i disliked). Would that be a high class game to you?

Started my bizarre adventure through Yume Nikki. For the optimal viewing experience, smoke a lot of dope.

Awesome stuff. Played this alot a few years ago.

Sigh... using gay people as something with which you try to draw players...
I miss the days when it was only graphics that drew in players.

Thanks for completely misinterpreting what i was saying.

I would strongly advice against selling a game which contains copyrighted characters...

Watched the videos and i gotta say it's pretty rad seeing someone else play your game. Anyway, i'm glad you found it enjoyable, somewhat.
About your comments on the game: Glad you liked the graphics, and as you guessed it's all custom. The reason the graphics kinda get better as you play the game is probably since i actually got better at making them as i was making the game. I guess adding some more suspense wouldn't have hurted, you kinda don't see those kind of things when you're making it though. I'll definitely keep it in mind for future projects, this was pretty much a test run for my first game.

Had a good time watching the videos and they really helped, see you next time!

After man Review

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I will fix the bugs/minor issues as soon as i can and reupload a fixed version.

As for your comment on the first few minutes being a bit bland, i can only agree. This is my first completed game after a few test runs before this game with shitty games. So spriting and mapping was something i got better at as i continued on the game. I find it kind of charming though and probably won't be remaking the first areas despite some being somewhat lacking.
I would also like to address the intro being somewhat long and empty. The reason i did this was to get the player in the right mindset. The long and empty travel to the new planet is supposed to be a long empty trek, not a chatty journey to a fun place. I can understand your concern about it but i won't change it.

Again, thanks for taking the time to play the game and write this review. It's pretty much spot on.

Holy. Damn.

I swear I mean no offense by this, but did you do that?

Sadly, no. I did edit the original a bit, though.
The original was something i found on a wallpaper site.
Here's a comparison.

From the horror/adventure game i'm making.
I'm aiming for the Silent Hill look here.
