Musician Available for Work

I am EXTREMELY interested. I've been working on two projects, one is pretty big/has a massive workload so progress has been going slow.. However, I've been mainly focusing on another project that is coming along nicely and should be done in a couple of months with some new and custom stuff. I would really love to have an oringinal soundtrack though.. that would boost morale for me (lol) and inspiration, raise the quality level of the game for sure, and finally, create its own atmosphere.

I'd really like to put together a game page in the next two days, or put together a presentation to you if you would be interested. <_< I have to work on some stuff further to present first before I could post it, but yeah, if you're not interested thats cool and totally respectable, but I would just like to pitch what I have going if you might be interested. I'm definitely digging the tracks you posted, and would be privileged to feature some music like this in my game. Either way, very nice work man.

Free Rpgmaker 2003 stuff

These are most excellent! Sorry to bump an older topic, but I just found it and I much show appreciation for such work. :) A couple of friends and I decided to have a friendly rpg 2k3 contest between ourselves, to make a game in two weeks. <_< lol should be fun. Anyways, I think I might be using these charsets (the template, mostly.). But thank you for these, much appreciated. Credit will be included/given all over the game. Hopefully expect to see a game in two weeks with these ^_~

Working around cliche? Writing discussion..

RPG's tend to have atleast one (if not multiple) 'cliches' fitting in the story. In my opinion, it's impossible to find an rpg or game in general that doesn't include a cliche or two, because everything has typically been done before in some form or another. Ultimately, its how the cliche is executed that makes it worth while.

I find it interesting when writers can take cliches and put a unique spin to a fimilar element.

In the RPG i'm working on right now, I find myself with one huge cliche; where the group sets out on a "pilgrimage" of sorts, going to 5 different locations on their journey to complete their task. (However, nothing is 'sealed' that in doing so it free's, nor does it have anything to do with seals or that sort of thing. >_> Not that that is bad either, just depending on how its presented.)

Many games use this element admittingly, Final Fantasy X (although I also admit was a huge inspiration to me), Tales of Symphonia, any Legend of Zelda, etc.

but it's how that it is written and executed I think, despited being represented in another way in another game, that makes it a good story.

How do you go about working around cliches? Do you specifically stop yourself to rewrite parts of your story if you think certain parts come off too 'cliche'? What do you consider main RPG cliches? What ones tend to put you off when playing an RPG, to the point you're just bored or not interested in where the story goes from there?

Double topic debate: 1.Team projects? & 2. Custom battle system idea

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions! :]

Stamina would most definitely always start at max (unless a special condition caused it not to, like a story-related reason or a possible post-battle status effect.)

I really like that idea though from SaGa Frontier, I never actually got to try any of those games. Using two forms of energy, kind of like MP and SP. This would add more strategy IMO because you would have to find a good set of moves to utilize both and not always rely on one or the other. Thanks for the suggestion. ^_^

Using this idea of a command system though, It wouldn't (at least in my mind) simply be finding the weakness and exploiting it as in Fire+Fire+Fire, but using different strings to break an enemy down defensively and hurt them. My idea though is that you gain commands as you do equipment or such, like in game you could find a Fire command and equip it to one slot to one character. So finding and using 3 fire slots on one character would call for a reward in battle, as in being able to cast Firaga. It kind of makes the player think too like, Do I really want to use 3 of 10 command slots just to cast Firaga on an enemy? Or should I try to work with 2 fire slots and use Fira, leaving that extra empty slot for another command? I would also want it where different strings actually work, instead of being like you can't beat a certain boss just because the player didn't grind to obtain 3 Fire slots (for example) on one character to cast the best fire spell. I'm hopeing it would give the player a feel of customization to where they could find a command setup and battle style that works for them and helps them beat enemies and bosses effectively.

Double topic debate: 1.Team projects? & 2. Custom battle system idea

Darken - Oringinally I didn't have a 'whole' lot to say about the team project part, so I felt it wasn't enough to merit a topic by itself. Then I got to typing and was like, well.. I guess I have more to say about it than I thought lol.. I was just curious to everyone's view on team projects vs solo projects.

That makes a lot of sense.. I never really thought of it like that, but I completely see your point LockeZ. >_>
