So I just went do download the Google Drive version and my AV came up with a trojan alert. Not sure if fail-safe or not, just wanted to ask if it's safe.

I'm always scanning my files on a daily basis, and nothing ever comes up. It's a false-positive, because AV doesn't like downloading Exe files. If you prefer a 'safer' area, you can use the Gamejolt link and it'll download the same thing as Google Drive. Hope you enjoy the game!

Idk why but when I looked at this picture, I remembered FF6.

Looks like I did my job, then. =D

Please help,my ship has disappeared.I have finished the main game and tried to do the new tower, and the arena, but got to a point I was not strong enough,so I went to the moon and levelled up to 99 but when I left the cave the ship had GONE. I tried to go through the crystal palace again but it repeated an earlier scene, taking me back to the lava place, and weirdly i was INVISIBLE(no ship showing when flying) and I could not land or do anything so I just quit and went back to my save, but still no ship.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I was in the hospital for a bit. There is a glitch that does need to be fixed, where that if you enter the caves on the moon post-game then you won't be able to access the Lunar Whale. I was hoping that not seeing the cave entrance for the Lunar Palace would tip people off, and that the monsters on the moon are the same as those in the Lunar Palace for grinding. I'll have to post an update and fix that, but yeah, if you're going to do the Arena/Lunar Expanse then do NOT enter those caves on the moon. I think I can fix that by wiping out the caves themselves to prevent entry, but as for your save file, you can always DM me and send me your save file so I can put the Lunar Whale back for you and get you back to where you're supposed to be. =)

Ah, bit of a shame - I usually only keep singular saves. Guess it's back to the beginning for me. In any case, it was a very, very good game. I had a TON of fun playing through it. Though, I AM curious - why are many of these places locked out after completing the game? Is there some sort of coding issue, or...?

It is a coding issue. Some of the places after endgame have conflicting event coding that would cause some pretty bad glitches, so it was necessary to lock them out. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it so much! =)

Just beat the main game a couple hours ago - however, is the Troia Castle Infirmary quest missable? Since I beat the game, the castle in inaccessible... have I missed my chance to get Materia?

Congrats on beating it! I hope you enjoyed it. =) As for the Troia Castle Infirmary quest, unfortunately you did miss your chance to get it. However, you can still access the hidden Arena. If you have a save before you beat the game, I'd suggest finding and beating the hidden Arena, then visiting Troia Castle, and you'll get the Materia.

Looking great! I can't wait to sink my teeth into this one. =)

Lets see what you will do with the battle system, since its really complex... also, what about the mecha sprites and characters?

I did upload a screenshot of the prototype of the battle system featuring Weltall against the enemy gears in the very beginning of the game. That will give you a better visual design cue for what I'm going for (it's only a prototype and not finalized), and as for the actual mechanics, I'm still working it out. I'm not going to be able to recreate the Deathblow/AP system like in the original (there are virtually no plugins out there for MV just yet that can imitate the Xenogears Deathblow/AP systems and I'm not versed in Javascript), so I'm going to use the Chain Command plugin by Moghunter to create a combo-like system where when you hit a specific experience level, you'll gain a deathblow that will require 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 button presses to execute (depending on the level of the deathblow). Obviously if a similar AP system/Deathblow system were to be developed for MV at a later date, I'd try that out instead.

Whew - that's quite the project! Best of luck to you, I hope things go well!

Thank you, I hope so too. =) It's going to be a massive project, I know, but I'm approaching it with the mindset of basically remaking Xenogears with a styling that closer approximates a classic FF game than recreating every mechanism, scene, and system from the original. Staples like Deathblows, Ether attacks, Gear battles, upgrading Gears, and most of the pivotal scenes from the original will be in there (but to a different degree in 2D obviously). I've also got every video from the original in there as well, upscaled to 720p. You'll also see a redesigned disc 2 portion of the game, and that's where I get to take some real creative liberties, since I won't be doing the hour-long cut-scenes just filled with narrative.

Sure, maybe a minimalistic approach of the OST can be interesting.
Let's chat and let me know your schedule :)

Sounds interesting. :) Send me a DM when you get the chance.

an amazing game that deserves a remake, I hope this goes well.

It really is very deserving of a remake. I'm going to try to pace the 2nd disc content like the first, instead of the hour-long cut-scene thing in the original game. Obviously this is going to take a long time to create, but bit by bit, it's getting done. Have to get creative doing it in 2D. =)

I can't wait to play this game! Looking great!

Hi,

I like your idea, and I would be happy to offer music composition :).

All the best.

Thank you for the support! I've currently got the original OST downloaded and looped, but if you'd like to put your own spin on certain tracks or even redo the whole soundtrack, that would be wonderful. =)
