[RMMZ] Dark Mage Class Passive Skill Ideas?

I have a dark mage in my own game that I had to develop some creative skills with when I introduced an Overdrive system. I gave the mage an ability called Chaos that temporarily gives an ally guaranteed critical hits. When used enough it levels up to Calamity, which gives ALL allies guaranteed critical hits. It lasts for a certain number of turns depending on how many enemies are on the field at the time of activation (it's an ATB system though, that might not work for more turn based games).

That's an Overdrive skill though, so you can only use it occasionally. Maybe adding restrictions to prevent it being overpowered could be useful. Something like immobilizing the user while the ally is affected maybe?

Just my thoughts. Hope it helps.

Hey, thanks for the support! Glad to hear you enjoyed the game! Also super impressed you found that hidden section, unless you found it by reading the story mission guide ;)

As for what happens...
Basically, Gareth and the guards are killed, and instead of joining the Sanctuary, Rain and his family flee to Amethyne. They're never found by Kain, who is then unable to forge the Fiend Staff, and ultimately dies as a result of the tumor. Hypothetically a civil war would ensue, but the world-ending calamity would be completely averted without Mia's unwilling support. Rain and Marisa would likely never meet. It's just a very short cutscene that results in a game-over, but that's the gist of it.

As for how to beat the minions, it's tough. You'll likely need to have brought some diamond weapons from your last playthrough, as well as possibly an All Badge to resist elemental magic. Then focus on killing the mage first, using Shroud to avoid physical damage. It's very difficult, but possible if you want to see the cutscene.

Anyway, thanks for playing! Hope you enjoyed it, and I hope you give New Game Plus a try!

Favorite Books/Series

Anything by Jim Butcher. The Dresden Files are great, although they have their ups and downs. Long series though, think it's 17 books so far with at least 3 more to go. The Codex Alera is exceptionally well written as well.

Also the Villains series by V.E. Schwab. Vicious and Vengeful are two of the best books I've ever read.

I do wish this would stop appearing in the random images.
2021 gang. Hope you guys had a good decade!

2022 now. Did this image somehow perfect an algorithm where all people commenting on it came here from random images?

So... I accidentally missed a bug in v5.9.1. It's small, and not at all game breaking, but my meticulousness will not allow me to leave it as is. There's a small bug where the animation for throwing Shuriken is not displayed properly. Instead of a shuriken, it shows the player throwing a weird circle. I've fixed this and updated the download files. Feel free to update if it bothers you, if not, keep playing. The game works fine either way. I also simplified the inventory sorting, so that all weapons and armours are sorted under one category. This makes it so that all categories are visible without having to scroll through them. Just a nitpick, but it's all fixed now. Happy playing!

Misao Results 2021

Honored to just be nominated, but yeah, if Everlasting Journey hadn't won the award that was NAMED AFTER IT, that would have been uproarious. Congrats all!

My best suggestion would be to adjust the battle settings in the "System" part of the menu. Setting the wait mode to "Actions" is sufficient to give each party member at least one action for every enemy action. Other than that, the boss has a weakness to Light magic, and is susceptible to the Horrify status silent, which significantly reduces it's damage output temporarily. It is also highly recommended that you go prepared with plenty of healing items, rather than relying on your mage for healing.

And party members can be changed by using the list at the entrance to the Sanctuary.

I will be releasing an update tomorrow that balances some of the combat, it looks like I put in some wrong values and didn't catch the mistake on the last update.

[RM2K3] [RMXP] [RMMV] What is the best way to make an RPG game by yourself?

I've been working with RMVX for over a decade, and when I started making games, I sucked. Period. Biggest piece of advice I have for making a large scale product is to do something with it every week, if not every day. The more you gammak, the better you'll get. Get 1% better every day, and by the end of a year you'll be more than 38x better at gammak than you were when you started. Doesn't matter if it's just booting up the project and staring at the database for 10 minutes. The more you find yourself thinking about your project throughout the day, the more ideas you'll generate and the more inspired you'll be to keep working, but inspiration isn't enough to complete a project. You've also gotta be willing to work on something even when it isn't fun and you don't want to. Just remember you can always go back and fix anything you've created, but the longer you go without doing something the more likely it is that you'll abandon a project.

When it comes to assets and scripts, there are tons of resources available and lots of support within the various communities if you aren't up to creating original assets. Reaching out for help is always a good idea if you're struggling with something. There are no stupid questions. At the same time, if you want to make original systems and assets, study existing resources. It's amazing how much you can learn just by taking a focused look at what others have done with the intent of learning how they did it. Ive never taken courses or tutorials on Ruby, but by studying other scripts I'm able to now make my own custom scenes, just through practice and effort.

And the biggest and most important thing is to just get started. You'll probably throw away 90% of the things you make in the first year when you look back and apply what you learned that year. But going through that first 90% is vital to the learning process to get to where you need to be.

That's just my perspective on large scale projects and gammak in general. For shorter games and event based games, there isn't much I can share. Regardless, hope this helps! Good luck with your gammak journey!

Bloodstained Hands

I noticed some minor bugs on my last playthrough, as well as one major one (although the major one isn't a bug so much as an oversight). The big one is that the boss of Glacio's Throat is way harder than it's supposed to be. It used to be very manageable, but looking at it now I somehow copied the stats of a raid boss into that one without realising it. Kind of explains the feedback I've been getting about a difficulty spike in that area, it was never supposed to be that difficult. Anyway, I'll be releasing an update soon with the fixes.

And while I know I said that I wouldn't be releasing any more game-changing updates, I will include a number of quality-of-life improvements along with the bug fix, just because I never want to waste an update on one little fix. Keep an eye out for it sometime this weekend. This will be update 5.9.1.

EDIT: Due to some rather intensive testing required for these improvements, as well as Misao voting currently taking place, I'll be delaying the release of this update. I just realized this game has a nomination for the "Everlasting Journey" award (thank you for the nomination!) and I don't want to sway the voting with a big update during the voting process, so I'll be releasing the update after the Misao's.

Also just a quick note about some of the latest screenshots I just uploaded. There is a custom forge screen that I heavily modified for the next update. It's not available with the current download, but will be available by the end of the month. Same with the modifications to the system options. Kind of a teaser for what's to come in the next update!

You can make it full screen by pressing alt and enter at the same time. Also, if you press F1 a menu will open up that gives you more options, one of which is to automatically launch the game in full screen every time.
