I first got interested in RPG Maker after watching X-Play do a review of RPG Maker for the Play Station. Years later I found RPG Maker VX Ace and decided to buy it. My first RPG Maker game, Dragon Lancer, was approved by Deckiller and became available to download on January 15, 2013.

Game / Engine Count:

RPG Maker VX Ace = 12
Visual Novel Maker = 3
RPG Maker MV = 2
Ren'Py = 2
Pixel Game Maker MV = 1
Solarus = 1
Inform 7 = 1

Same class, different skills?

You should check out some free to use tile
sets for other options (only for non commercial games.)

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/21-celiannas-tileset/

There are more out there, but this is a good set.

If you want to modify tiles you can use Gimp, which is a free
to download image modification program. Photoshop is probably
also possible, but I don't own the program so I can't be sure.

You can copy and paste events. The event will be exactly the same
though and will take you to the exact same place as the first one.
But after copying you can edit the event to make any changes you
want.

If you don't want the main character to be in the party
you need to

1) Create a blank character with no sprite, etc...
(put this character in the first slot)

or

2) Create a character (from one that's in the scene.)

After doing one of these you need to remove the main character
from the party and add the character you want to be in your party.

So actually in the scene one of the characters will be a
"playable character" (even though you don't actually ever have
to have him in your party.)

The first option is good if you going to have an intro scene
or a blank screen at the start of the game. Remember that the starting
character doesn't have to be anything or do anything.
You can program the engine to do what you want.
The player will never know the difference if you
program it properly.

Edit:

To exchange dialogue you need to "Show Text."
Put a picture of the characters face in the box
and if you want the character's name at the top.
Simply have a series of show text commands
in your autorun event.

You might be able to do that menu using a script,
such as Yanfly, etc...

But you would need to make the skins format to the
engine so that you could use it like it works.

I need help?

Your explanation is too wordy.

You want skill A to only be able available to
use if skill B is in effect (ie. like a status effect
or limit break?)

You might be able to do this through common events perhaps.

Same class, different skills?

Have two classes with the same name.

or

You don't have to learn skills by leveling
up. Characters can learn skills from "Training"
or "Reading."

So lets say you have the same class, but you want
character A to be able to learn different skills
from character B, but still learn the same core
skills.

In the game you could acquire an item or talk to
an npc that only one character can learn the skill
from.

Gameglobe

You know what Square should release

Final Fantasy: RPG Maker.

I think that explains it all.

RMVXA Switch Question

In your event do you

1)Have the event move inside the same event page.
(ie. You have the main event running and inside that event
you tell another event to move.)

or

2)Have a control switch in the first event page
which triggers the event you want to move.
(This is usually how I do it., but you need to usually
have a wait command for 60 frames or so.)

Also if you do the second way, inside the moving event
you can erase the event and turn off its own control switch
and the main event will still run after.

I hope I explained this well enough. Its sort of
complicated to put into words. With the engine there
is often more than one way to do something.

If they did that then that would also destroy the ability to
rent games from blockbuster.

And I could see a huge influx in the copy game market.
(Since to use a "Copy" game you first have to modify
the system hardware so it will play the copied games.)
Doing stuff like this only promotes more criminal activity,
which would also equal a loss in revenue for the game
makers.

How to Get Licence

If someone uses something you own in a game made for profit
they are breaking the law. The sight might take the game
down if you can prove you are the author.

If its not commercial then you should probably not
bother.

Giadon Saga

That is an optional quest. After talking to Fluffy he asks you
to do something in cat language, you need to figure out what he wants.
I would start by talking to some other cats because "cats are people
too."
