I first got interested in RPG Maker after watching X-Play do a review of RPG Maker for the Play Station. Years later I found RPG Maker VX Ace and decided to buy it. My first RPG Maker game, Dragon Lancer, was approved by Deckiller and became available to download on January 15, 2013.

Game / Engine Count:

RPG Maker VX Ace = 12
Visual Novel Maker = 3
RPG Maker MV = 2
Ren'Py = 2
Pixel Game Maker MV = 1
Solarus = 1
Inform 7 = 1

Is a main protagonist essential?

What if you had a game like Breath of Fire 4,
but focusing more on the good guy and bad guy equally.
And then at the end of the game choosing which side to take.

Large Party system

Try looking at some of Yanfly's stuff.
He has a script that makes it so you have no
maximum party size and can have up
to 5 people in battle (I think you
can change it so its only 4.)

RAR Files

I downloaded 7zip and it worked very nicely, thanks.
Currently playing the RPG Maker Chain Game now.

I wouldn't recomend Bitzip, even the trial.
It comes with other programs, that you don't
even want.

Is a main protagonist essential?

A protagonist is not necassary, what if your
game is not about the good guy, what if it is about
the bad guy? Then your main character could be
the antagonist.

RAR Files

Every once in a while I download stuff that is a .rar file.
And I have unpacked it using trial offers of
Winzip, Bitzip, etc...

The problem is that trial offers are only good for so
long. And I don't want to pay for a program to unzip .rar
files.

I have heard of free programs on the net, but I'm worried
about programs with viruses, or that come with hidden
programs.

I was wondering what people who have something like this would recomend.
I would mainly use this to occassionally download games from RMN
so that I could play them ( the ones that use this format.)

PS - I'm also wondering why people use this format for
RPG Maker VX Ace when it already compresses the data for
you in zip format.

Taking sprite request

Do you think you could do a sprite for Sorin Markov?

How did you and rpg maker meet?

It was a cold November evening when I was thinking to myself,
"Hey there used to be an RPG Maker game on the PSone." So
I decided to take out my trusty laptop computer and enter in
a couple searches.

To my suprise I saw a computer version of RPG Maker on the
internet. And I was like, "Wow, this is so much better than
having rpg maker on a console."

And like a nice gentlemen I took RPG Maker out on a date.
I even paid for the whole thing. After that I opened RPG Maker
and used its database.

Ever since me and RPG Maker have made two fantastic games,
which you can download by checking out my profile.

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

Making a map for a town, then making the inside maps
for the houses (both of these involve making a set
of what tilesets I want to use, so I play around
in the database for a while.)

After creating maps, I make the transfer events,
and play test the transfer events to make sure each one
works.

Then I might make some townsfolk, shopprocessing,
which will need to be playtested as well.

I also have a place where you can receive extra quests
in the town, which means creating the quests, and
control switches for each quest. After which each quest
needs to be playtested

After all that is finished I can go on to the main event
which will allow the player to continue the story.

All this for a town (Is it me, or do others find towns more
complicated to make than dungeons?)

How do people in the community handle negativity?

I have created two games and have received much criticism.
But I don't think any of it was unwarranted or jerkish.
I never fealt like someone went out of their way to hurt my feelings.
I may not have liked a lot of what people said at the time, but
I have always given what people said some thought. I'm really
trying to take what people have said about my games to make
better games. I don't know too many people talking trash talk
around here, unless you can give examples of this?
