[RM2K3] How to make an intentionally terrible game?
Make everything deal pitiful amounts of damage and miss often. Only allow saving at specific save points and put them right at the beginning of dungeons so that if the boss kills the player they have to start over or backtrack to save before the fight. Spring boss fights on the player with little prior warning and don't build up to them. Have villains that just appear from nowhere with no justification or explanation. Write dialogue that is basically just the characters describing in painstaking detail everything that is currently happening.

FinalDragon had a good game with Three the Hard Way as well (which is actually on here) but I don't think he ever finished Queen's Court, which is a shame because I was REALLY looking forward to that.
What else was there...? Atomic Crash, that tactical one DFalcon made (Aurora Wing? I want to say Aurora Wing). Kinetic Cipher, Phylomortis, Idunn Ymiraldor (I'm friends with SovanJedi on Facebook, he's doing incredibly well for himself these days). :D

Can confirm that shooting giant bad-ass robots with a fucking bow and arrow is every bit as glorious as you imagine it is. There are few things as viscerally satisfying as nailing a Watcher in the eye with an arrow from miles away and watching it drop like a stone.

Bear in mind that just because traditionally Mario and Link don't talk in their games, it doesn't mean you can't give them dialogue in a game like this. Both Mario and Link have canonically been shown to be able to talk (see Mario's Game Gallery, the Super Mario Bros Super Show, and the Legend of Zelda cartoon); although the silent protagonist concept works for their respective genres (it's not like Mario needs to talk much in a platformer, and Link is usually too busy exploring dungeons to have reams of dialogue) and the concepts kind of stuck with later games in their series, there'd be nothing wrong with eschewing that in a game that mimics the Kingdom Hearts many worlds concept.
