but the sprite doesn't change
and never will - this is a known RM2k3 complaint, battlesprite changing IN battle doesn't work.
and the character automatically unequips everything.

It won't be too drastic if we decide to do it, but GRS makes a good point: you gain the last three shaman almost back to back near the very end of the game, making the unity system useless to half the playable characters until that point. It'd be nice to get more use out of it, but with the increase in stats that the unity system provides, enemies would need to be upgraded to balance the battles out.
In any event, this isn't one of the changes we've made. Just having a discussion about it thus far.
This is totally valid, I was referring to issues such as perceived difficulty spikes. Especially when that difficulty is... the final dungeon
What are you thinking about right now?
I am sorry but Chie and Yukiko are two of the most undeveloped characters ever. Yukiko is just a rehash of Fuuka's social link (right down to being the exact same arcana with the exact same lack of talent in cooking), and Chie never develops any more personality traits (or loses any). Her entire social link is scenes of you two being derpoffs. These two characters are the same at the end of the game as they are at the beginning... in fact, so is Yosuke, though the way they PORTRAY him is different (IE, he is no longer crashing his bike and getting stuck in garbage cans and/or supposedly peeing himself. P3 got on just fine without a character expressing how close they are to wetting their pants for comedic effect).
A pretty distinct difference can be seen if you play P4, then P3. P3's characters have realistic concerns - Yukari, for example, is worried that Fuuka was pressured or forced into joining SEES. She also has misgivings about Mitsuru's role in the party. P4's characters have no such conflicts or realism - their attitude toward their (self-appointed) mission is unanimously "we must solve the mystery, BECAUSE!" - and they instantly welcome every new member to the group with open arms. Hee hee, we're friends! Personas! TV world! Hijinx~!
P3's characters get on each others' nerves and argue in a realistic way. You can feel animosity between different people at different times. P4's characters just tease each other and squabble in a comical anime style that never changes dynamics. (The joke that the girls cannot cook is beaten into you so frequently and ham-handedly that it is decidedly NOT funny by the end of the game, at which point it is also insanely obvious that the 'twist' is that they will cook something delicious. WOW, THAT WAS A FRESH TAKE ON THE JOKE) I also hated pretty much every freaking cutscene of the P4 party just hanging out, because they are all such stupid, obnoxious, shallow and vapid anime characters getting up to SHENANIGANS, HEE HEE HEE~!
I cannot stand to listen to Chie's voice actress, am not fond of Yukiko's either (though Kanji, Naoto and Rise are fantastic)

I wouldn't be opposed to tweaking stats around a bit. The difficulty jump from the Grand Cathedral to Infinity is brutal. Hell when lil' me first rented the game I played somebody else's save right in front of Ray in the Cathedral and I still beat it only to get curbstomped when I found my way to Infinity.
I really do not support making changes to the game's statistics based on perceived difficulty, because I personally do not remember having any such issue, and am slightly alarmed at the idea of the actual game's mechanics being tweaked too far from the original

For anybody who thinks that I'm a jerk, I did talk to Soli on AIM.
You namedropped him as someone who had a lot of complaints previously, so he... felt the need to repost these complaints on your blog about this game being totally different?
I'm not seeing you as the jerk here.

SPIRIT PATH
I've tried to keep combat to a minimum on this dungeon, featuring only 'Shadow Selves' of the character that deal low damage and run away when harmed. You would think that this wouldn't make them a threat at all, but with many of the traps in the dungeon able to reduce your HP it develops an interesting 'fight or flight' take. More importantly the Shadow Selves have a 2% chance of dropping the most powerful weapon for this character in the game, further complicating the decision.
Actually, if they just flee when damaged and you're being damaged in other ways, this is 'flight or flight.' The only possibly reason you have for choosing to fight them is to get that ridiculously low drop-rate weapon, and I certainly hope it's made extremely clear that they drop this weapon, or you cannot consider that a factor in the player's mind.
