I think the PS sprite looks surprisingly okay, it is just at a different color depth. If his colors were "brightened" a little bit more, he would stand out better against the garish SNES sprites. Looking back and forth between him and Ryu, it's the same spriting style, and they'd look fine. He clashes a little harder with the bugbear but I'm pretty sure that's the green fur.
edit: Oh he has a black shadow under him and Ryu does not. Make this consistent among party sprites and he'll stand out less

Not every difference is listed, and some of them are referred to on that command/feature's specific page as opposed to collected into one spot. Also I apologize if I gave the impression that I had a bubble for you to burst, but suck it. Also the different way switches and variables work IS a difference between it and earlier generations...
