I'm guessing you don't quite get it, most blogs are things like that: http://rpgmaker.net/games/2842/blog/4294/
The blog post is concerning the development of a game, not "brb" or "eating doritos", I personally don't see a problem there.
you don't see the problem with making an update to alert people that future updates are coming when there is a limited amount of space on the front page

I am posting to alert you that when I have completed thinking out what I want to say, I am going to respond to this post

why is it silly

If people are disappointed about a game going on hiatus, they're going to post "Oh nooo" posts anyway - probably because they're, you know, interested in the game.

The same thing is going to happen whether or not someone posts a blog update about it, and it almost invites MORE questions to simply change the production status and not make any comment about it either way. You may as well just call updating any game in any way a cry for attention

hiatus posts are just a transparent cry for attention. lazy people flake out and stop working on their games but still want the satisfaction/egostroke of a few people posting NOOO I REALLY WANTED TO PLAY THIS / YOUR GAME LOOKED SOGOOD WHAT A TRAGEDY. there is no purpose for it other than letting people know they should be disappointed

This is just silly.

They can change the project status to "Hiatus". If you're interested in the project, you might notice the status change on the game profile...

Will that be posted to my Notices if I'm subscribed to the game? Because if simply changing the project status doesn't update a game I am subscribed to, then I wouldn't be obsessively checking that game every day for updates. If it does then this is a nonissue `-`

Anyway this whole Blog-gate is so very petty though I completely agree that certain blog posts are just ridiculous.

I am inclined to agree. It is kind of sad brilliant blog posts like these: http://rpgmaker.net/games/471/blog/4177/

do not even last a day on the front page, bumped down by "Going on hiatus..."
I am sorry but putting a game on hiatus might be considered a pretty valid update to post
Why.

I am pretty sure I would want to hear about it if a project I was interested in was being cancelled, put on hiatus or otherwise changed in production status

Turn-Based...dead?

...Although to further the SH:2 thread, none of the unique commands were especially original. Lucia pulls tarot cards which sometimes help and sometimes hinder! Anastasia learns spells by analyzing enemies! Gepetto uses elemental attack spells! Yet, what makes them interesting is the "gimmicks." Lucia's tarot cards are on a bit of a sideways slot machine reel for you to pick from and one of them is always 'special;' Anastasia analyzes enemies by taking their photo and keeping the spell in her album; and Gepetto's elemental attack is tied to whatever elemental dress Cornelia is wearing.

Basically, you can include Firaga if it somehow adds something to your game, even if it's just flavor. After all, Gepetto's command was just Firaga with different spices on top. `-`

Also, if you want to start with locked EQ but later unlock it, start them equipped with a set of Cursed items and then replace them with identical, Not-Cursed items (or just remove them entirely) to "unlock" it.

Oh yes, or make two identical Classes. One with "EQ Locked" and one without it.

Strange Bug

Set it to "attack" if it's an event that will target something in particular, then inflict and immediately cure a Paralyze status in the event coding. That will prevent them from ever actually attacking, and still run the battle script.

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

My favorite: Building a new cast of characters from scratch.

The kind with pages of backstory, realistic personalities and understandable issues.

THIS IS CRAZY WHAT IS GOING ON UP IN HERE

but that's hard to do front-view with for the sake of displaying animations/damage.

Any particular reason for going front-view?

DungeonQuest

YES. SIRENS AND LAMIAS. WIN.

Seriously I have such a hard-on for Sirens and Lamias, it's retarded. I am downloading this NOW~
