I like what you're doing with Nimufu, although I wonder if Whine or Transform might make things a little too easy?

Preemptive assumption/balance suggestion would be that frogs are worth 0 exp so you're not really benefiting much from transforming them, or something~

Yay for graphical polishing! If you put a border around the windows with the hearts, it will look a lot more professional. Even if it's just a two-pixel width of black lines. Likewise, I'd get rid of the white pixels around the hearts, and outline them with one pixel width of dark red.

I love how I didn't notice until now that that is a REAL photograph as a background - it's difficult to pull that off. Good job!

we were discussing the matter on irc because we often discuss game design issues. it wasn't really behind his back because the general consensus that it was a poor design was shown to him, which is more than he deserved given the ignorance and dismissiveness he displayed in response to earlier helpful feedback. hoping 50 people saying 'this should be changed' is enough to give pause.

I have a hard time faulting you here because it should be changed, and of course, I always respond to articulate and thought-out explanations in kind. Allow me to chew on my foot for a while, since clearly this isn't my argument / I am not braining this evening.

Though I will still say that the style of conversation is purposely mocking. I definitely talk about game concepts exactly like that, I just wouldn't say it to someone in quite that way. Like you would say "the other dress is more flattering" instead of "that shit makes you look fat yo." If they didn't listen to you the first time, don't lower yourself by resorting to the second response.

Not all criticism has to be constructive. There is nothing wrong about saying "this is not a good idea and here is why". I would much rather have someone tell me my idea is bad and say why than to just accept it.

I actually do agree with you here. I also think the skill's design is poor.

And for the record, saying "you should give the control to the player" is constructive. This advice was totally blown off and thrown in the dirt in a very mean-spirited phrasing. I could understand someone posting a rant in retaliation for their idea to be tossed away immediately and without any regard.

I just feel that in this case the retaliation was particularly childish, as it just repeated every criticism already given, in a much more nasty demeanor. "Here's what we already said, being said by a bunch of other people behind your back, suck it suck it suck it." I also suspect the developer was reacting in defensiveness due to the firestorm of comments this blog has/had been receiving and dealing with in a similarly negative manner (from some of the same sources as these criticisms).

My ultimate point was can we ALL just stop being complete dicks but I guess we all know how that question always gets answered. And note that this does not extend to negative feedback, Ciel. You should know better than to think I am all sunshine and roses about feedback.
