You obviously not have played some of the Indie games on XBL.
And before you shout EXAMPLE, fittest is a prefect example.
You still haven't cited anything concrete to back up your opinion... such as a number of downloads, or something, to discuss popularity.

Fade is what I meant by die, but people took it to literally and I can't change die on the thread title.
Yes, I do agree indie games are becoming popular. But indie games are helping bring back old genres that have otherwise faded. Those games on XBL for instance.

This, combined with a concentration in particular games (IE: Starcraft II), will turn the market into a small hand-full of series and nothing else.

Not to say Chrono Trigger wasn't good, at all. I love that game. I think a remake in 3D like Chrono Trigger: Resurrection is warranted, but I don't think a proper sequel could be done well. Chrono Cross was a great attempt at it, actually. I really did like that game. But it was so different, it may as well have not been a Chrono game.
Can I plug - was it you? - the person who made this point in the Final Fantasy fangames thread. A title gives people a preconception of what to expect in the game, and if it's too different, it fails to live up to the title. Even if it isn't inherently BAD.
