Hey Nil, let me give you some useful pointers! You need to apply more of a blur effect to the light image itself. Here's an example:
On the left is something like the image you're using. On the right is what I would personally use, which has about 4x the blur setting. This will help the light look less like a white fuzzy cloud and more like actual light. Additionally, I believe you're using Show Picture with the Normal setting? Try making it "Add" blending instead and see if that makes the lighting feel more natural. Normal is just literally adding more pixels on top of what's already there, sometimes too heavy for lighting. My final tip would be to try to avoid using white. Artificial light is almost never white (and when it is, it's irritating to the eye, like fluorescents). Give it a faint yellow or blue tint and see what happens.

Hali made a great post about goals and purposes, and it's going to be obscured under a flood of bullshit bickering.
I disliked greatly the post about how a community has nothing to do with "goals" and is defined solely by members. In any community, the members should agree on goals that they can work towards as a group; the two aren't mutually exclusive.
