I love the absurdity of a library which is built as giant bookshelves containing smaller bookshelves. A+

Screenshot Survival 20XX

Why are the books so much larger in proportion than... books? Like is the place specifically built to look like gigantic library shelves? Cuz that's kind of rad. Otherwise the books are like... bigger than the door

Tau gurl I love what you are doing with the palette play there. It's very fresh and funky but be careful not to overuse saturation. Some colors need to be less saturated to let the accent colors pop out

This is "atmospheric" if your atmosphere is made of bright yellow toxic gases. Turn your screen tint waaaaaaaay down and also never use that overlay ever again btw

You did seem rather immediately defensive so I went on the offensive. Also I tend to grandstand a little bit when I get on mah soap box. Sorry bout it.

Let me know if you need help with edits and stuff though. I can make you something from your existing chipsets pretty easily. I've posted it before but this is one of my favorite cities, Amethy (the deep bayou city of voodoo and swampery).

@Versalia:
OR IS IT? I mean obviously yeah it is, but my pillars are edited and despite using the same tiles the map is entirely new.
Your pillars don't look any different except that you ruined the shading which made them actually look like columns up at the top. It doesn't matter if your map is "" entirely new "" if it still looks and feels exactly like something old.

Also, it's called the Barrier Tower
thanks for correcting that, without the right name nobody would recognize it lol

and it wasn't easy that easy to rip and then emulate (or 'copy' if you prefer).
"""" copy """"
I mean I cheated on the exam but on the upside it was rly hard to get a clear view of the answers over your shoulder

What annoys me here is that you did literally nothing to elevate this beyond its original source and there are comments about how amazing it looks. I'm not trying to tear you down here, but there is some major perspective needed when this is a game design community and you think you get points for effort for just ripping something that already exists, no matter how difficult it was. I advise EVERYONE who is using rips to find truly original ways of employing them. You definitely should look into, at the very least, a color shift like Pizza suggested. If you edited your pillars to have vines wrapped around them, you could get away with a lot more vegetation all over the place (like the tree which would otherwise not make sense). Looking at your overall design concepts is important. Do you want this place to feel like a sterile, boring stone tower like every game ever? Or do you want it to feel ancient and run-down, overgrown and depressing with tons of plants everywhere? Do you want it to feel like eyes are always on you, full of statues and paintings with a more overcast sky instead of that blue one, but otherwise be normal for an unsettling juxtaposition?

push yourself

edit to comment on the interior map:
I see it looks lush, cared-for and overdecorated, like a King's palace. Maybe you should think of ways you can make the exterior of the tower feel more like the interior. Royal flags hanging from the pillars.... The same kind of flowers as inside...

Gaaaaaah that's amazing <3 Reminds me of Libby's city inside a tower from her stream

You guys it is just literally the radio tower from ff5

Man, I could never tell if I'm supposed to take the 3 tile rule seriously or not. I've seen so many people dismiss it here that I just kinda ignored it. But alright, lemme give it a shot.

So how about... this?

Better? Even a little?

It does look more organic which is good for a forest. For your reading pleasure: The Three Tile Rule
