YEASTER'S PROFILE

Hi! Thank you for peeping at my profile.
I like making modern-themed games. My first game, Onyx, was made in 2006, when I was a senior in high school. So it's pretty ROUGH, but people seem to like it? Total Chaos is my personal favorite, but it has some, erm, issues, too. Mystery Man Zero is coming you guys, I haven't forgotten about it. A full-game will come out even if it takes 10 years. Oh gosh, I hope it doesn't take that long, but you get what I'm saying, right?
Right now, I am also working on A Nightmare in Sunnydale, a horror genre mesh-up fangame, if you will. I also like playing games. Actually, playing RPGM games is legit one of my favorite pastimes. *insert smiley here*
When I can fit it in, I do a little bit of Gatekeeper as well, a sci-fi fantasy about a team of god-lite forces, Gatekeepers, who have to protect the dying Earth from forces they don't even know about.
If thou think they can take it, download some of my stuff!

My favorite category was "I'd like to push those pixels." It was totally random and hilarious, it should've made the cut. It's not like RPG Making is serious business, why not have some fun with it?
What makes you play an RPG more than once?
Characters, definitely. If a game has a character I really like, then I'll play it several times just to see that character again (Persona Alana <3).
I usually play RPGs more than once anyways. I play the game once just to see if I like it first, and if I do, which is pretty much always, then the next time I play it (usually a few years after) I'll try to have more fun this time, like trying out some of the extra stuff.

Your 3 factors to create a good game
1) Stay within your range - Don't do what you know you can't
2) Take risks - Just...try something different with your story and characters, but make sure your plot doesn't seem contrived.
3) Just have fucking fun - This is not a career. You are not getting paid. No need to take game making so seriously.

Post About games
I mainly just like to see screenshots, but I will almost always download it if it's set in modern times or if it's a comedy. There are very few modern games around.
Game Design Discussion of the Week: Hey Assholes, Stop Giving Up.

Yeah...the beginning and endings seem to be the main thing you always think about when making something then you hit the middle...that's when the brain drain comes in.
And yes I have bought myself a flash driver, saved my games tonight. So no more saying stupid shit like: NOT AGAIN! ERGHHHHHH! I HATE MY LAPTOP! PIECE OF SHIT!
:)
That's funny, because the middle-game is always the first thing I think of making games. The beginnings are the hard parts for me. Once I get past that first dungeon...I'm good...
The Sword or the Pen: Your Character's Weapon Preference in RPGs
I think I use a lot of selection of weapons in my RPG. Swords are used, but not by the main character in Vanity. Given that my RPGs take place in modern times, I shouldn't be using swords at all...but for some reason I do.
I don't know why other modern RPGs use swords either, not that it would make me like a game less or more if the MC used a sword. I guess it's just a tradition that game developers choose to keep...? I really don't know, it's probably mostly subconscious thinking.

NPC Dialogue.
Writing NPC dialouge is always a drag, I usually just write the first thing that comes to mind. However, if you're really having a hard time, I would just write some facts about the characters who are from that town, or just write little facts about that town or something. That's what I try to do.
Long RPG Maker Games
Wow. Really?
I really had no idea what I was doing when I made Onyx. I guess I got too excited with RPG Maker and I couldn't stop.
I don't think my others are that long though. Vanity will probably be the shortest. Let's hope...

I like how everyone's always saying "all of them" like I have a whole bunch. I only have three, with the last one released last year! :P
