YEASTER'S PROFILE

Hi! Thank you for peeping at my profile.

I like making modern-themed games. My first game, Onyx, was made in 2006, when I was a senior in high school. So it's pretty ROUGH, but people seem to like it? Total Chaos is my personal favorite, but it has some, erm, issues, too. Mystery Man Zero is coming you guys, I haven't forgotten about it. A full-game will come out even if it takes 10 years. Oh gosh, I hope it doesn't take that long, but you get what I'm saying, right?

Right now, I am also working on A Nightmare in Sunnydale, a horror genre mesh-up fangame, if you will. I also like playing games. Actually, playing RPGM games is legit one of my favorite pastimes. *insert smiley here*

When I can fit it in, I do a little bit of Gatekeeper as well, a sci-fi fantasy about a team of god-lite forces, Gatekeepers, who have to protect the dying Earth from forces they don't even know about.

If thou think they can take it, download some of my stuff!

RMNCast Episode 2: Release Something IV: Guns of the Patriots

The intro is basically summing up the events for Total Chaos, the first game. And although I like SMT, the only game I jacked it from was inspired to create something like it was Vanity.

And the dialouge trees like the "go to hell" one are frequent. There's usually a "nice" choice, a so-so one, and one that's really asshole-ish.

But yeah, this demo was over a year old and is almost completely different from the current game. I just wanted to put something out there.

What brings you to RMN?

This site was created not long after the first Onyx was finished, so I just saw it as another place to advertise it. :p

Vanity is something that has to be experienced.

[DEMO] Forever's End: Demo 1

There was a "Forever's End" series on the PS1 version of RPG Maker yeeeears ago. I haven't played either of those games since I was 14, but they were really good back then and everyone at that website loved them.

I doubt this is the same thing, though.

What do you think makes an RPG?

The characters for me. A great cast of characters can really mask a weak plot, or at least it does for me. A game can technically have a good storyline, but if the characters are weak (FF12), I won't get any of it.

Sorry, ever since Mage Duel came out I have LOVED ME THE CAPSLOCK, AND HARD.

Seriously, though, I think you and ever other RPG Maker dude and all sell yourselves short. I've done "real coding", and while it is LESS CONVENIENT it presents the same basic challenges as " "coding" " in RM. By the way, what I am putting in quotes is the fact that people think of RM programming as "coding" in quotes.

lol That's cool. I just thought you were getting a little heated for a second, and it scared me.

I commend people who are great at coding and have built awesome games that way. But I can think it takes a certain kind of talent to do that, and while programming and such can be taught, it would take a very long time to create anything decent with it (as with anything in life). If game/graphic creation was something I was seriously passionate about doing, I would have no problems putting forth the extra time and effort to learn all I could, but since it isn't...I don't see the need for me to learn all of that.

Not everyone is a composer, nor an artist, nor a programmer, and not everyone wants to be one.

Uh, I do hope you know that in the most basic and literal sense of the word, as well as the SPIRIT of the word, EVERYONE WHO MAKES RPGMAKER GAMES IS, IN FACT, A PROGRAMMER.

No need for caps. You know exactly what I mean.

I didn't include RPGM because everything's practically already made for you. It's pretty point-and-click-and-save. I don't call myself a programmer, I can hardly code anything from scratch.

Music in an RPG Maker game

I think people make too big of a deal when it comes to custom material. Not everyone is a composer, nor an artist, nor a programmer, and not everyone wants to be one. Perhaps I'm bitching because I've tried to make a custom game a few years back and everything in it was so god-awful, but still, creating your own stuff (music, chips/charas, systems etc) from scratch is incredibly hard work and not everyone has the time to learn all of that, especially if game creation isn't something they plan to pursue.

That said, I don't care where the music in an RPGM game came from. If it's good and used well, I'm satisfied.

When it comes to music for my games, I definitely look for material that's rarely (if ever) used. I think I'm pretty good at picking tracks, but I was told once that the songs were too "loud"...but if you're going to make a modern game, you need upbeat tracks.

[ADVERT] Takuto - Episode 1

This game certainly looks interesting, but congrats on the custom material. The chipsets especially look decent.

I will suggest giving the character sets a little bit more color, though. They look kind of dull. It's not a huge thing, but yeah. It looks like something is "missing" from them.
