Relations with The Gender of Your Preference
This is an interesting little topic. I am going to add my two cents.
First of all, on the initial subject of that dreaded friend zone, I completely know the feeling. I've been in the friend zone with everyone I've ever met ever, for almost the entirety of my life. My boyfriend reassures me that this is because I've always been in some kind of long-term relationship or another, but I've also never been asked out. So basically I agree with whoever said that you should present yourself as an option, because if you bite the bullet and ask people out then you plant the seed that you aren't just a friend. However, if you HAVE bit the bullet and asked them out and they can't see you as anything more than a friend, c'est la vie, I know this feeling too, from both angles. It's best to move on from that spot because sometimes you just know a person too well and can't think of them romantically anymore.
Anyway, in terms of my relationships with the fairer sex, I am one, but I have also been blessed to for one brief year share the love that dare not speak its name (*compliments to Mr. Wilde). I was a devoted partner who showered my dear with trinkets and little notes. Alas, it was not to be, but this was DEFINITELY the cleanest breakup I've ever had. One day, we were together, then we both decided it couldn't continue, and went to being friends immediately. There was some residual stuff, sure, but it was basically a nonissue.
Every boyfriend I've ever had I've asked out. The only way to get something done is to do it yourself. I never understood the slews of people who were convinced that never telling someone their true feelings was the surest way of winning them over. Then again, there is a huge difference between being desperate and, "I am interested in you, would you like to __________?"
I can sort of understand what Suzu is saying, so perhaps it is a girl thing. In my younger years especially I was of the mindset that dating is useless unless you can feature being with that person for the rest of your life. I was often really quick to leap headfirst into love and commitment, which explains why none of my last three relationships have lasted any shorter than two years. I was definitely convinced that I was going to spend the rest of my life with the person I was with, and I didn't see the need to date casually because for women, the end result of relationships are "supposed" to be marriage. It's like we're bred with that ingrained in our skulls.
It only took me until recently to see the other side of things, which is that yes, sometimes casual sex is probably great and an experience people should have. What I truly miss is that I never experienced the single life, or what Feld described, going to dinner with someone whose company you find enjoyable. I've always been so serious about settling down that I missed the "fun" part.
However, I would have no real qualms if the man I love proposed to me in the next year, provided we were both on our way to being able to make a life together in the most pragmatic sense.

This is meaningless unless you say what country. :P
That's just part of the guessing game.
The only hypothetical question that matters...for game developers who are also grownups.

It's heartbreaking, I know, and very frustrating because my girlfriend just won't listen to me when I explain to her that yes, it really, really isn't possible for me to get a job writing for videogames.
This isn't exactly true, though I'm sure it's close to true.
I know this for a fact because one of my annoying professors started off our year by telling us what some alumni were doing. He mentioned one in particular was writing for videogames in BARCELONA, of all places.
So I guess if you want to move to Barcelona, Max, there's openings there :P
I can't answer this question because I haven't made any games. But if, say, someone saw my art online and they happened to be Top Cow, and said "move somewhere and work for us," I'd consider saying yes. I'd have to talk it over with the boyfriend though.
Also I'd never move to Houston, TX. No offense to people who live there. I've heard too many stories about the bugs that live there (I'm from a desert state so we don't really get bugs much).

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. Sorry I was absent all weekend, I couldn't get to my computer.
To address some things.
To those of you who said I have some issues with proportion, I could say that those pictures that had difficulty with proportions were meant to be stylized. But also, those were pictures I did without reference, so I guess there's an issue there too.
Also, as for the lineart, I agree. As I said, this is some pretty old computer stuff, and I only just found out within the last 6 months how to get the brush dithers working with photoshop and my wacom. ::) oops, go me.
@Dudesoft: I can buy myself a beer but I can't rent a car. Good enough answer?
Although I have to feel a little... strange... answering that question. I mean does my stuff look like it was drawn by a 14-year-old or something?
ANYWAY, thanks a lot everyone! I'll probably post more art later. I hope to see more art from everyone else as well!

Hey guys. Since I'm not actually a game maker, though I do hope to start learning my way around the programs and make a very short and simple little game of my own, I thought I'd offer my services to those who are not artistically inclined.
There are a lot of fantastic artists on this site! I'm amazed at the array of talent RMN has got going on.
Here's some of my crap. I do a lot of different styles. I'm very bad at drawing backgrounds, and pretty okay at drawing people.
Here is an action shot (lineart) that's still one of my favorites. It's somewhat anime style.:
Obligatory anime-style big-breasted woman with sniper rifle (yes I know her eyes are too big, it's a stylistic choice ; )). That is an uncolored rock she's sitting on.
My most recent drawing, more ladies, in my normal style (I try to steer away from Anime):
Max's avatar, full picture. I really love the Pieta and I also love the IG series, so... fanart. It still needs to be shaded, but the lineart alone took an ungodly amount of time and effort. Oh, and the binary on the GAIA's dress, I think, is part of the word 'mother,' though I drew it so long ago it's hard to remember if that's correct:
For IG fans (lol):
Lastly, not people at all, but a set of emblems I did from scratch on Photoshop with pen-tool:
Also, play Ruptured Souls to see my litemaps.
Any feedback from the resident artists would be appreciated. But be gentle - most of this stuff is over a year old.
Thanks for checking it out!

Freaky and odd. It has a certain style to it that I like.
How is it freaky? It's basically just a drawing of Michelangelo's Pieta only instead of Jesus it's Sigmus the Fallen!
Okay, having said that, I kind of get it now.
But I blame Michelangelo.
ANYWAY:
Hali, your avatars are always distinctive. : D this is a good thing. 7/10
What are you thinking about right now?

I think Aprilschild is stalking me!
;D
I think that must be unhealthy.
Yeah, I'm a stalker, you're just a few targets off the mark.
