What are you working on now?
Skills.
12 characters, 12 skills each: 144 skills just for player characters. HNNNNG. I'm not sure yet if having that many skills for what is a fairly small project is really practical or worth it!
I have the skillsets of 5 characters finished; 60 skills down. Approaching the halfway point.
Or I would be, if I wasn't entirely clueless what to do with this particular character. I have the gist of each character's skillset written down in one of my documents, but that was in the game's infancy. Pretty much none of these ideas are practical anymore except for a few passive skills. Maybe I'll just make up stupid ridiculous damage formulas and make a bunch of attacks based off those. (I'm not sure if I'm even joking oh god)
It could just have to do with my brain wanting to die given that it is 2:20 AM and I have been vidgam-makin' much longer than I generally do in a day. It could also have to do with the fact that everything about this project is ill-advised! hnnnng

DOING IT! - WEEK FIVE
post=144711The statues are save/healing points (the robed person is to save, the dragon is to heal); the broken one is there as a "sure sucks to be you" thing, because I'm a jerk 8]
Cho, your map felt to me like the objects in it - on the left half, anyway - were simply added at random rather than with thought. They do not seem natural. I am not sure what causes the feeling. Some of the objects are only used once, like the mushroom, statue, and broken statue, making them seem like they don't fit in. The crystals are in several places but still manage to somehow seem unnatural. They should probably be up against walls, unless you want them to be central features of the area.
I'm also not really a fan of the random bits of wall in the middle of the passages, but I'm not sure how to fix that. VX RTP is so blocky.
I get what you mean though. I try not to overuse certain tiles and change it up a bit, but I guess that makes it seem like some of the stuff is just put at random when I only use it once. I did try to place everything where it might logically be found (where I thought it might be anyways, I'm no cave aficionado), and the walls in the middle were meant to make it feel more natural actually, since just like a straight hallway seems like an improbable way for a cave to form. But, I see where you're coming from.
Though, keep in mind it is just one floor of the dungeon; a lot of the tiles you only see once are used elsewhere in the prior floors. However, I'll try to go about making it look more natural.
Thanks for the input (again)!
edit: god i sound defensive
edit 2: Did a few quick edits and I think it looks a bit better, but I've gotta watch a film with my family so I'll work on it more later and post it up once I feel like it's up to snuff.

DOING IT ~ WEEK THREE
Absentminded Charles
Charles is Club Theta's bartender, though not a very good one -- he's prone to forgetting orders. He has a penchant for gossip and an aversion to children; that's how he explains his choice of profession. Rumours abound among the regulars that he has an estranged son.
Marmora, Queen of Winter
This icewyrm is the cardinal spirit of winter. Her deity-like presence in texts both ancient and modern has led some scholars to believe she lies hibernating in the City of Slumber. It is said that she once defeated Bielobog, King of Spring, in bloody combat, and that she has not drawn blood since.
Brazen Algus
The single-eyed Algus is one of Club Theta's most popular and most detested regulars. He tells of destructing demons with his bare hands, surviving for days on nothing but moss, and felling 18 men with the sweep of an axe. The other regulars say he lost his eye in a drunken knife fight, but he argues the contrary.
Lonely Calliope
She became a shopkeeper to meet new people. She's never been much of a social butterfly, and her otherworldly appearance doesn't do much to help her out. Even the slightest suggestion that she looks out-of-place makes her feel anxious and uncomfortable. She loves peaches, wet places, and joyful music.
Adroit Jeff
The bibliophile that runs the Institute of Violent Engagements. It's actually just a shed he bought to put all his books regarding combat techniques in. While his friends affectionately refer to him as 'Skillsmaster Jeff', it's a misnomer; in fact, he's rather clumsy. In another life, he'd make a great tactician.

DOING IT! - WEEK FIVE
You should consider using the Kill Autoshadows script (http://rmrk.net/index.php?topic=24428.0), Orpheus. The way the autoshadows don't cover any objects but the floor is a little off-putting. Good job on tightening up the map though! However, I'd suggest using the two-tile-wide bookcase in place of the ones you have; a bit strange to have two exactly identical bookcases directly next to each other I'd think.
Also: Someone should tell me what they think of my map on page 2 :< I feel like it's too cluttered or something but I'm not sure.
