Extended charsets in 2k3?

post=94874
I know theres a CharExtend tool by Cherry floating around, but I'm unaware if it would work in 2k3.

That thing doesn't work in 2k3. You need to code a parallel process event that controls several other events. If you do this, don't use the "proceed with movement" function for moving events. Instead of this, use waits. Every movement of an event must be equal, or you use pictures. But they are always shown above everything else.

Increasing 2k3's picture limit

@deadramone:
I found the other patch you are searching for:
http://www.multimediaxis.de/showthread.php?t=116766
Click the link in the first post of that topic. If you have started the testmode, you can start that tiny little program; at best via a key code combination. It disables the lock, and you are able to edit while playing. Changes on Maps get active if you re-enter a map, if you change some options in the database, it will take no effect while you are playing (As almost every German tool: Cherry wrote it).

@WolfCoder:
Yeah, most patches I know are written by German or French programmers. That's why you can't find some explaining stuff in English. But this is not entirely true, some have a translation in your language too. Like powermode2003 and so on.

Increasing 2k3's picture limit

Increasing the pictures limit works. Use that:

http://cherry1.ch.funpic.de/1.08_mit_100_Pics/RPG_RT.exe

Edit:
I forgot something: Exchange the rpg_rt.exe of your game with this hacked version, and don't forget to make a backup, please. ^.^
/Edit

Cherry hacked that rpg_rt.exe, so you can use up to 100 pictures at the same time. If you want to use them, you should do the following steps:

1. Make a backup of your rpg2003.exe (this is in your program file)

2. Get the Resource Hacker; if you don't have it, go and search for it via Google.

3. Open the Resource Hacker

4. On the left, there are paths of many thing included in the rpg2003.exe

5. Search for RCDATA, then TFORMEVCMD11110, then 0

6. Look at the right case, search there for the line "MaxValue = 50" (Only the first entry you can find there, all the others are not needed!)

7. Change the "50" into a "100", now click on Compile Script

8. Do the same with the paths "RCDATA" --> "TFORMEVCMD11120" --> "0"
"RCDATA" --> "TFORMEVCMD11130" --> "0"

This is necessary because you must change the limit of the number that you can type in as a picture's ID.

I just translated that text into English, but it works. The original text was taken from the German E-Book for RPGMaker, so I hope you can understand what I'm about to tell you.

Megaman X: Past Rising (title pending) Review

I miss a bit the old Mega Man X feeling, but I'll give it a trial (applied to the SBS). The screens already look intersting~

Creating a custom menu (startup) for your game

Don't worry, they just change the runtime file of your game. Not the maker itself. If something doesn't work after patching, use a new rpg_rt.exe. This is not going to all patches, some (like Ineluki's Keypatch) use the harmony.dll of RM2k and RM2k3 (until v1.04 or 1.03; 1.07 and 1.08 not). Also, making backups should be self-evident.

Creating a custom menu (startup) for your game

Yeah, Power Mode 2003. But that program has some bugs, as far as I know. Cherry made a patch that allows you to make your custom title screen. I think that was the "Better Auto Enter Patch" (there is a Auto Enter Patch to, but this is not as good as BAEP).

Available for RM2k and RM2k3 (but just 1.08)

I'm not sure if he has made an English instruction - maybe you can find out more in that Helpful Things topic, which kentona has mentioned. There is a demo project in this linked topic too, just click the second link~

Resource Museum

Maybe someone is interested in... Kaltblut and some other guys and girls made some pretty good RM2k/3 ressources. They are all linked, you can find them under that mill wheel, or however this thing is called in English.

Some of 'em are edited by K.L.R.G. so that they fit to M&B, and so on. Have fun.

Best RM Games you've Ever Played

You mean if one of these games would be released today, they would be just a "standard" game like every other one? So far you are right. I often read in the German RPG Maker forums, they say the same. Unterwegs in Düsterburg was released in 2002 (or one year later, I dunno the exact date), but it got many of the last "Goldener Deiji" (German RPG Maker award). I has itself "burned-in into the hearts of the gamers". But it has not one of these "awesome" features (I hate this word, because they all seem to keep down a good game on an own battle system, and an own menu, and special lighting effects... ).

Edit:
@Archeia_Nessiah:
The idea for Seekers of the Sun's CBS was taken from Chrono Trigger, I guess. Also, if someone else reads this, it's just my opinion that the named game is good. Nothing else.

Best RM Games you've Ever Played

I tried seeker's of the sun, it's not that good or anything <_<;

That game was released in 2004. Play a 2004 game and you will see what's better. I should have mentioned it, but I didn't. ;_;

Don't know what to do is going to so many RM games. Most of 'em are in this way, especially the old games (like Seekers of the sun, for real. If you ever played Velsarbor, it is the same. Ok, you know what to do, but there is no real story).

The Importance of Planning

Pretty important, but do not think you should plan every detail of the game. That is one of the most stupid things you could ever do. If you would do this, it comes close to an apathetic job that you, in fact, will never bring to an end. In so far, Lihinel is right.
