Dungeon View Maker

I've just released my second tool.
This one generates the images used for oldschool pseudo 3D Dungeon crawlers like Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder.

Should I add this to the tools?

Character Studio

Submitted. Thanks Marrend

Character Studio

Hmm I did not know I could do that. I will look into it
Edit: Is there anyway to say it works for any engine, it seems to be forcing me to choose only one engine that it is designed for
Edit2: Also I have changed the name to Pixel Character Maker(Before I get a C&D from autodesk)

Character Studio

Character Studio is now available on Itch

Character Studio

I started work on a little tool to make it easier for me to make my sprites but then I thought it was a pretty good tool that others might find useful so I've been expanding it to be even more useful and easier to use.

I know super man does not wear gloves but I really felt like he did :P
A lot of these sheets were made by modifying other sheets, for instance the symbol on his chest is a white t-shirt colored yellow and cut down and then another colored red and cut down. and his blue suit is just another body colored blue with the head cut off.

I know I didn't bother finishing Harleys hair because of laziness.
The tool has frame editing features like Move frame, Stretch frame, Copy/Paste, and selection delete
It also features a color swap program where you can take the colors already in a sheet and switch them for other colors.
You can also choose export styles like sprite order(different RPGMakers use different sprite order) and mask color(I still don't have Alpha working)
You can also merge layers and export as a prefab to create new sheets to be used on other characters.
The program even allows you to add your own Sheets or even complete sets from scratch with your own frame measurements.
I'm almost finished with it and hope to have it released on itch before the end of lockdown

Super Mario Kart Remake Review

thanks for the fair review. I can answer some of the reasons for some of the problems but I don't want to sound like Im trying to defend myself.

Mario and Luigi were recolors in the original Mario kart(which this is a remake of)

Tracks being stiff? do you mean that they are a bit flat? if so the original was completely flat(Mode 7) I tried to add a little depth but still keep it the same

Coins to big, Yep I agree.

No cup next to Mushroom, Flower or Star. That's how the original was but I agree I should have changed that.

Cannot select a character with up and down(That's because I sucked at programming)

The drift mechanic was always overly exaggerated in the original but I think I may have made it worse and kinda clunky. Instead of trying to emulate the original over exaggerated drift I should have just made my own drift and had done with that.

The computer characters never picked up powerups in the original and even though it would have been cool to make them pick up and use powerups. I was running out of time and also a bit crap at these things.

Difficulty being unbalanced was just a case of me being crap

If that was the only Bug you found you were lucky as there are numerous bugs and some are game breakers.

As for all the other issues you had with the game I sucked at programming back then and botched my way through.

Thank you for the review. I wish I could fix the issues you mentioned but I lost all of the code many years ago.

Thoughts on the state of RPGmaker and it's community?

author=Alditrus
I'm curious: I've seen quite a few RPG games on the Games page that were made by other engines outside of RPGmaker like Unity, Unreal, or something else. Some of them are even 3D. With that said, do you guys think RPG games made outside of RPGmaker even count on the games page, especially on a site specifically centered around RPGmaker?

We are discussing the slow death of the site(and rpgmaker in general) and you think it would be a good idea to cut people from the site that have been posting here for years? (Edit:sorry if that comes across as aggressive, supposed to be more of a sarcastic poke :P )
also I don't think the site was named after the game making engine but rather after the practice of making rpg games.

but back to the engine. RPGMaker has to figure out an alternative to what they are doing because more and more of their customers are trickling across to other more powerful free engines and if they continue to make the same product and charge for it their customers will continue to decline(I don't see a good free alternative though)

As to this being a snes fan only thing I don't think that's the case really. I used to think that 2D would die with the introduction of 3D but its still going strong really and even when a game is 3D then super pixelated is still a very popular style so I think pixel art graphics are going to stay forever.
