@Kaempfer - Thanks for commenting. As for the mine, it's supposed to be dug down from the main ground. Like they dug a hole. I know it doesn't quite look right but for the life of me, can't figure out how to do it. I haven't done much shading of anything yet... but hope to. Haha.

So, in the meantime, I've just been plugging on - and come back to re-edit the tileset and ad to it here and there. Any suggestions would be great.

Do you mean like this?(just a quick dirty gradient thrown over the top)

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

@GretGor check out RPGWizard, its still currently in development, its free, it currently has export to windows, html5, Linux(mac and android are in the works)
There is a Zelda style battle system example available(will need tweaking to fit your game) Forums are a bit dead but the discord is very active(the dev does not have time to fight off the bots and police the forums)

What are you thinking about? (game development edition)

I love RM2K3, it is the one thing that prevented my teenage years from being a complete waste. I wanted this game to be sort of a love letter to that simpler time in my life, when I had copious amounts of free time to make simple, crappy, but earnest short RM2K3 projects to express myself, and occasionally make one or two complex custom systems in it for kicks and Internet credit. However, it's just not suited for the needs of my current project, and that makes me so sad.

Everything comes to an end. Even the forum I used to hang out in the most is dead now, and I have to accept that my teenage years are not coming back. RPG Maker 2003 will always hold a dear place in my heart

Wow change a few words here and there and I could have spoken those words myself. Its sad that things change.

What do you think of 'Girly Runs' and other such motions?

The girly run can be good to show a characters personality. I would never apply it to all females in a game just the ones that I want to appear extra delicate feminine. Don't forget with a sprite you don't get the same level amount of detail you would in real life so over exaggerating certain aspects of a character will do the job of giving them certain personality traits.
Yes we all know nobody really runs like that in real life, but also nobody does that weird breathing/bouncing thing like characters do in battle but if you did breathing realistically you would never see the characters move until it was their turn and it would look boring. Over exaggerating a characters animations gives a good idea of how the characters feel.

I hope you are still working on this. I love the look and idea.
Yep still at it. Recently redid the way players travel from world to world

RPGWizard

A great Tool for creating rpgs for multiple export targets.
The developer listens to advice and requests from users(several of my requests have been added to the engine) this is my go to tool for jrpg development.
For anyone wanting to make an rpg I cant recommend the RPGWizard enough

Galaxy.png

Actually my scope has gone down profoundly. Up until recently there was 10000000002 worlds, now it generates just over 8200 worlds, mainly because I cant fit more in a galaxies image. I considered making multiple galaxies, I even wrote all the code for it, 10000 galaxies each with between 6000 and 8000 stars and each star with between 1 and 7 planets but we can both agree that over nine hundred thousand worlds would be to much. so I took out the multiple planets per system and left it with just the one galaxy. There are 14 different world types so far but I may add more.
Also Ores, Herbs, Wood ect are procedurally generated according to world difficulty so the more you explore you will keep finding new better stuff for making better potions/equipment.
As for who would want to explore that many worlds, Elite, Elite Dangerous, No Mans Sky, Cubeworld, Minecraft. They all have a massive amount of exploration(beyond what is possible to explore in a human lifetime, well maybe not the original Elite) and they also don't have enough variety in biome/world generation to make all those worlds/areas fun to explore. but I know what you mean, there is something that feels defeating about knowing you will never be able to explore everything the game has to offer. But also the truth is you don't have to explore all the worlds. Its more of a play how you want to play
