Any good guide for customizing the menu?

Looks really cool, but I was going to learn how to do it myself. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a how-to guide? :)

Any good guide for customizing the menu?

I've poured over 500 hours into my game so far and haven't even touched the menu system yet, but I think I'm at the stage of development in the game where I need to get that nailed down. Does anyone have a link to a guide on how I could go about editing the default menu?

I basically just want to list items, journal, save, and quit since there is no combat in my game. It's a story/adventure game with puzzle solving. So I don't need to display the character portraits and things like that.

I've messed with it a bit, but I really have no clue what I'm doing. Hoping there's a guide out there that covers it.

Thanks all!

Do you pretty much test as you go or after a build up of development?

I definitely test as I go. Every little bit of new content that I add, I try to break it in creative ways. I've found a lot of bugs this way since the game I'm developing has some really complex puzzles and sections.

RTP vs. Custom Graphics

I am working on my first RPG Maker game now, and I am going custom for the graphics. I want my game to stand out and be unique. I am using a few of the RTP elements, but ALL the tilesets, characters, and many of the game world objects are my own creation.

I spent months learning pixel art and how to make proper tilesets. It was definitely a lot of learning and work, but I am so glad I did it! Just keep at it and you will get better in time. Pixel art is fun and rewarding, and can be profitable too (selling your artwork packs or doing commission work for others).

You're off to a good start.

I HIGHLY recommend this guide: http://finalbossblues.com/pixel-tutorials/

It's what I used when I was first getting started. It's an excellent guide that covers everything you need to know, and it's written in an easy to understand format.

Chieki's sprite

Looks good, but remember, in any tile-based engine like RPG Maker there will always be a bit of "blockiness".

The sprite is great but could use a little more color/shading in the hair and face to give it some depth, especially if you are trying to avoid the blocky appearance. Try reducing the darker colors of the outline in the side view to help it blend better.

Good horror, dark, and mystery rpg games[RMVX ACE]

"It Moves" is a really creepy and extremely well made game:

Another really good one is "Chelsea":

Those are the two I can think of off the top of my head. Both are incredibly good games.
