This looks really cool! I hope development is coming along, I can't wait to play this!

Ceiling Passability Error [RMVX ACE]

There is an option to set each tile to have a certain passability from each cardinal direction. You could simply block those directions in which the player would be able to walk from ground to ceiling tile.

Forgive me if you already tried this and I didn't see you mention it.

[RMVX ACE] Boss design tips

If they are supposed to be defeated easily, perhaps you could just give them really low health pools. However, their mechanics would have to be really interesting for the low X number of rounds they are alive so that players wouldn't get bored.

Additionally, you could equip them with a wide array of non-damaging abilities such as blinds, sleeps, and incapacitates so the fights become a matter of managing the boss's crowd crowd without worry about mitigating damage. This way the player would be able to overcome the fights eventually without having to worry about dying via massive amounts of damage (since you said your game was permadeath). This would make some for very interesting fights.

Fey

Hey, I just finished the game. I stick by my post above when I say it's a very well made game. Full of charm and memorable characters. I loved how all the graphics are custom. The cutscenes are brilliant and well orchestrated.

Story really picks up it's pace towards the end. The ending pretty much put closure on everything and tied up all loose ends which is nice and exactly what an ending should do. Great job there as well. :)

There's a few things that are a little rough around the edges like the shop, and the collectible treasures, and the books with the weapon skills. Seemed kind of pointless in the grand scheme of things but it adds another layer to the game which is probably why you added it. Also, the town had a bunch of empty buildings which seemed kind of odd too.

Some of the fights go on waaaaay too long. Ghost pirates, I'm especially looking at you. The long fights and the quicktime events are my main gripes, but the game is good enough where they can be overlooked.

Overall though, I'm very impressed. I can try to write a full review when I get some free time if you'd like me to.

Fey

Fun game! I am very impressed you did custom graphics for almost everything.

I only have a few minor gripes. It's highly unlikely you'll revisit this project, but might as well leave some feedback anyway.

- Using shift for the menu just felt weird. I never got used to it during the game as it's not a common way to bind a menu. Why not just use the standard ESC key?

- The rock worm part was more frustrating than fun. It's not really intuitive what I was supposed to be doing. I bombed them for like 15 minutes before I realized I had to hit them with the sword too. The game tells you your sword won't be strong enough to damage them, so using the sword never even crossed my mind. I thought I was supposed to just use the bombs, but that wasn't killing them either.

- The quick time events were annoying and mildly frustrating. Not really your fault though. This engine isn't really meant to handle that kind of thing.

Other that than, I am really enjoying this game so far! The story flows smoothly and the maps are extremely well done. I love how the characters have animations for almost everything they do. It was a nice touch and shows you put a lot of time and effort into it. Keep up the great work!

Norse Myth

I'm intrigued. Can't wait to play it!
