LAVENDERSIREN'S PROFILE

I've been doing this rpg maker thing since I was 13 and haven't really ever stopped ever since. I have a couple projects under my belt, though only a few finished that I'm completely proud of. (my first game is finished, but it's typical 'my first game' trash). I found this place after finally upgrading from 2k3 to xp after RRR sorta collapsed and died. It's sorta sad to see that the internet isn't actually as immortal as previously thought, with old links decaying into 404's all around where you need help, but I guess that's just the way things go when interest is lost.

I'm a pretty big homestuck fan, and have done tons of work on an ARG/RP called SBARGv2 (I joined the community in its first iteration but didn't join the staff until the sequel) and have been working on stuff for that ever since.

I am the main artist in Fallingstar Games and I have a homestuck epilogue/sbarg crossover fanadventure called None Pizza with Left Beef.

I am aggressively nonbinary, and always willing to help out a friend in need.

Muffle's 1-Dungeon RPG Game Jam!

From what I've seen, multi-room/multi-map is allowed, I've seen both single map and multi map setups from the group.

Muffle's 1-Dungeon RPG Game Jam!

I work on the weekends unfortunately. I get off work at roughly 7:30pm pacific time, and I understand you're in eastern time zone. I hope it won't be too much of an issue for your sleep schedule.
There is a song that is used in the starting area that's on the homestuck fan-album Land of Fans and Music volume 2. I'm assuming its obscure enough to not get you dinged, I assume.

Look forward to a gam from me soon!

Pixel Club

Decided to do a pic of Thoren for this week's theme. Been thinking about them a bit lately while on my month's break from RPing directly.
Not only do they have rocket feet and hands, but they also have a swarm of nanites that they can wield expertly!

[RM2K3] [RMXP] [RMMV] What is the best way to make an RPG game by yourself?

it really depends upon what you're planning.
When it comes to increasing the likelihood of completing a project, you really gotta figure out what your limits are and how to leverage them, and adjust your plans accordingly.

Not the strongest at asset-work? find an asset pack to use. Not much of a scripter? Find some good scripts to use that are offered in places, or possibly go entirely without them! Not much of a writer? Just make your game as story-lite as possible. Of course, there's always opportunities to grow your skills, but if you plan on going solo and want to get something out the door, you need to make sure you have as little work to hand yourself as possible.
Also, it helps to make your game relatively short and try to nip scope creep in the bud.

As for just making a game without concern for completing it?
Focus on honing your craft. Read the help files, figure out how everything works, make a plan, and set out to make that plan work with what you've learned. And as you continue, you will learn even more as the years go by.

But at the end of the day, remember that no dev is an island. You can always ask for help if you get stuck on anything, and there's always plenty of artists who would be willing to fulfil commissions for the right price. While getting good at skillful boolean searching can get you far, there's nothing quite like asking an expert.

If you're just trying to pick an engine for your first game, I'd say start with 2k3. The file sizes are relatively small, scripts are a non-issue, and it seems to have just the right amount of features and limitations to hone any beginner's skills.

I wish you the best of luck on your gammak!

2021 Misao nomination monthly data

Ah, so that means if anyone changes their mind regarding their votes, they can successfully change their votes if needed? Good to know.

Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright :: 2022 Gammak Challenge!

Considering the white tiger, I'm assuming its based off the predecessor to the lion king, which had a white lion in it.
Screenshot looks hella tight btw!

Jingle Jangle Jam

I'm not sure if you'll be able to get credit for it, but it is always welcome for your stuff to be posted on the site regardless (though there are standards to gamepage of course).
That being said, you probably should have posted a demo to at least get the 50 makerscore a few days ago.

Jingle Jangle Jam

A note to anyone playing Up On The Housetop, there is a game breaking bug on map77, replace it with this version in the data folder to fix it. https://rpgmaker.net/media/content/users/56745/locker/Map077.rxdata

On a later date, I'll make a gamepage for it and clean it up a bit more, but for now its good enough.

A Snowball's Chance - Intermission Demo Trailer

Heh, thank you. Fortunately, the intermission is pretty well self-contained so it doesn't rely on what the player may have gotten in the main levels.

I've had the intermission section feature-complete for a while, but last year the cooking overhaul was unfinished and this year level 3 is still deep in development. I figure this will tide folks over for another year.
